Christ Community Free Clinic Presentation Executive Director Jeff Johnson and Volunteer Coordinator Catherine Igielski of Christ Community Free Clinic presented about the medical services being offered they also discussed planned dentat services that are forthcoming for the agency. Mission statement: Christ Community Free Clinic is a medical mission providing free quality same day medical care and referral services with compassion and dignity to the uninsured of our community. The clinic is currently open every Saturday and on the 1St and 3rd Tuesday every month. Two providers staff the agency on Saturdays and one provider on Tuesdays; on staff there are Medical Doctors, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners and one paid staff person. The Nursing Coordinator and Hospitality Coordinator are able to write legal prescriptions to customers. The Resource Coordinator helps identify where and how to meet other needs, i.e. food, clothing, etc. In the future, once the agency is more established they may bring on an additional staff person to work during the weekdays to answer phones and make appointments. Volunteer hours at the clinic average 43 hours a week; staff has been advocating for more volunteers and getting the word out to residents about their FREE services. After two years of service they have documented 750-800 unduplicated customers. The agency covers individuals that do not have any health care insurance; they do not work with people receiving Medicare or Medicaid. All customers must be referred to the clinic by a community health or medical facility. With healthcare reform the Community Health Centers and Basic Health Plans are no longer accepting applications; the agency is working towards transitioning their customers to a regular doctor/practice. Common issues the clinic sees include: skin disorders, colds, diabetes and issues dealing with high blood pressure; if there is a need for x-rays the clinic uses MultiCare, they have a contract with them for service for. The pharmacy - the clinic tatks to the patient and asks if they can afford and get transportation to Wal-Mart to get a$4 prescription, otherwise there is a contract through Safeway that the clinic will pick up the tab; they estimated monthly the bill is around $100 a month, much less than they thought it would be initially. Fundraising has been slow; there are several grants in the works, individual donors and the City of Auburn has been the main funder. Future goals include getting their FREE in- house Dental Clinic up and running in 2010. Dentists have already been identified and the clinic has made grants to the WA Dental Association to help get setting up and running this part of the clinic with all the necessary equipment. Another major goal for the future is to bring on a Chiropractor care and offer chiropractic to their customers. Christ Community Free Clinic has participated at Auburn Good `OI Days. One of the recent Leadership Institute groups, associated with the Chamber of Commerce, set up and paid for new marketing materials for the clinic, including a marketing video and materials to help with fundraising. C.
