Background Summary: In 2007, the City adopted Resolution No. 4196 and entered into an agreement with Gates, Gates, and Gates, owners of the Mohawk Plastics Co. This agreement required the Gates family to construct a portion of A Street NW to the full road width, which is above and beyond what was required of them for development. For these additional improvements, the City is completing the wetland permitting and mitigation for the wetland fill on the Gates property. The purpose of this project is to design and construct compensatory wetland mitigation including the construction of 2.2 acres of wetland creation and 0.4 acre of wetland enhancement. The project includes the excavation, grading, planting, signing and fencing of the wetland mitigation area. The purpose of this Amendment to Consultant Agreement No. AG-C-371 is to revise the scope of services and associated cost to reflect additional engineering work that was required during design. The anticipated cost for this amendment is $10,560.00, increasing the agreement total to $34,790.00. Construction for this project is anticipated to begin in October 2009 and be completed in December 2009. Once construction is complete, the permitting conditions require the City to monitor the wetland for a period of 10 years to ensure establishment. The total project cost for the project is estimated to be $621,280. There is $652,800 budgeted for the Mohawk Plastics Wetland Mitigation Improvements project in the 328 (CIP) Fund.
