Whereas one H.H.Howard was formerly the record owner of the
major portion of Lot 5 in Block "A" of Ballard's Park Addition
to Slaughter,King County,W.T.; and
Whereas said H.H.Howard,while still the owner of a major por-
tion of said Lot 5,was duly adjudged to be a bankrupt in proceed-
ings duly had in the District Court of the United States for the
Western District of Washington,Northern Division,in the matter
of Christopher, Knickerbocker & Howard, Bankrupt, Cause No .5241,
and said bankruptcy matter was duly referred to Hon. Cicero R.
Hawkins,Referee in Bankruptcy, and trustees were duV appointed,
elected and qualified in said bankruptcy matter; and
Whereas, during; the course of the administration of said bank-
ruptcy estate, all that portion of said Lot of which said H.H.How-
ard was the record owner at the date of such adjudication of
bankruptcy, ( except the east 30 feet thereof and the west 10 feet
thereof ),was duly sold to divers persons; and
Whereas said east 30 feet was not included in the deeds of
conveyance to such divers persons, but was reserved therefrom in
order that said east 30 feet might become a part of that certain
street known as "Hill Street" and be used for public street pur-
poses, and the said west 10 feet was not included in such deeds
to such divers persons,but was reserved therefrom,in order that
said west 10 feet might be used for public alley purposes; and
Whereas, at a ,public auction of the remaining; assets of said
bankrupt held at the office of the said Rereree in Bankruptcy
in the City of Seattle, King County,Washington, on the 29th day
of November,1918,all of the property and assets of said Chris-
topher, Knickerbocker & Howard, Dankrupt,not theretofore specifi-
cally sold to others,was struck off and sold to George C.Meade,
one of the grantors hereinafter named, and the sale thereof to
said George 0.11eade was approved by said Referee in Bankruptcy
and by the creditors of said Bankrupt at an adjourned meeting
of said creditors held on the 29th day of November,1918,all of
which is a matter of public record in the office of said Referee
in Bankruptcy;.
NOW, THEREFORE, The grantors, George C -Meade and Anna H.Meade,
husband and wif e,both residents of Auburn,.Washington, in consid-
eration of the premises and for the consideration of one Dollar
l.. oo in hand paid, convey and quit-claim to the City of Auburn,
a city of the third class situated in the County of King, State
of Washington, all interest in the following described real estate:
The east thirty (30) feet, and the west ten (10) feet, of
Lot 1luwbered Five (5) in Block "Al? of L.W.Ballard' s Park
Addition-to Slaughter, icing County, W. T. ;
situated in the County of King,state of Washington;
to be used as a public street and a public alley respectiveljt,
and for no other purpose.
