Call to Order, Approval of Minutes, Introductions: Chair Nancy Colson called the meeting to order at 5:17 pm. Ms. Colson called for approval of the November minutes. Commissioner David Sader moved the November minutes be approved as submitted. Commissioner Tanya Rottle seconded the motion. Motion approved. II. Election of 2010 Vice Chair & Committee Chairs Election of 2010 Vice Chair: Commissioner Patricia Judd, Nominee. Ms. Colson requested a waver of a call for approval and that the commission moves ahead with a vote. All agreed. The vote was unanimous approval of Ms. Judd as 2010 Vice Chair. Approved. Selection of 2010 Committee Chairs (Self nomination process): Ms. Colson announced the following commissioners as chairs of sub committees and that no vote is required: Public Art, Tanya Rottle; Visual Art, Debby Deal; Art Education, Donna Smart; Performing Arts, David Sader.. III. Chair Report - Nancy Colson extended her gratitude and appreciation for being able to serve as the Chair to the Auburn Arts Commission. Noting that the past year has seen successes of the arts. Specifically acknowledging the special events planned in celebration of the 25tn Anniversary - ArtRageous: Artists in Action Art Fair and the Walk it, Talk it: Public Art in Auburn Artist Panel Discussion. ' Ms. Colson thanked outgoing Commissioners Patrick Gallagher, Amanda Flanery and Laurel Siegmund. Patrick Gallagher has served on the commission since 2008 and served as the chair of the Public Arts Committee for the past two years. Amanda Flanery has served on the commission since 2004. Their volunteerism and service was applauded by the group. Cultural Arts Manager Laurie Rose noted that several individuals have expressed interest in serving on the commission and filling the vacancies left by the three commissioners. Former Commissioner and Commission Chair Kristen Brock will rejoin the commission in January. Greg Watson and Deb Warner have both expressed interest in becoming a commissioner. Ms. Rose noted that individuals interested in being involved with the arts commission, but are not necessarily interested in becoming a commissioner, are invited to volunteer as part of a sub-committee and she encouraged commissioners to remember to recruit volunteers for committee assignments. Her leadership and enthusiasm for the work of the commission was acknowledged by all in attendance. Ms. Colson will continue to serve on the arts commission in 2010. Commissioner Leslie Moore will serve as the Chair in 2010. IV. Other/New Business Ms. Rose updated the Commission on the Arts Commission and Auburn Ave Theater 2010 budget. Ms. Moore inquired on the status of the Community Center project. Ms. Rose noted that City Council approved application for a Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Section 108 Loan to help build a 20,100 - square foot Auburn Community Center and associated activity center in Les Gove Park. Sub committee meetings for the month of December are cancelled.
