Board Meeting Minutes
January 21, 2009, 1:30-4:00 p.m.
Board Members Present: Richard Artura, Ronnie Beyersdorf, Tom Campbell, Gator Chamberlain, Jan Cavanaugh,
Mike Gerber, Doug Hedger, Julie Herren, Gerry Honeysett, Michelle Marshman, Judi Roland, Clarissa Ruston, Lisa
Scarff, Mae Yamada
Board Members Excused: Pat Bailey, Jennifer Traufler
Board Members Non-Excused: DeAnna Burnett-Keener, Warren Kinggearge
Staff Present: Patricia Cosgrove, Kristen Bruhan, Alison Tissue, Janet Wells, Erin McEntire

1. Call to Order and Approval of Minutes
A. President Beyersdorf called the meeting to order and asked for the approval of the minutes.

II. Chair Report

B. Jim Kelly of 4Culture discussed the Cultural Heritage of Community and Boards. 4Culture supports
arts and heritage in King County. Jim gave an overview of programs, local museums, the preservation of history at
local levels, and the role of museum boards.
III. Treasury and Committee Report
A. Held until next board meeting
V. Staff Report
A. Erin McEntire presented a slide show and discussed the goals of the education and public programs of
the Museum and Mary Olsen Farm. She spoke of reaching adults and children through the museum programs.
B. Patricia Cosgrove reviewed the Board Mission and Governance. Committee member requirements were
reviewed. Board members were requested to volunteer for the committees they would serve on.
C. Alison Tisue discussed the scope of the museum collections; how artifacts are preserved and what
artifacts are within the scope of the museum mission. Alison also presented examples of current museum artifacts.
D. Janet Wells discussed the responsibilities of the farm tour guides, museum tour guides and docents.
Museum Board Members were'encouraged to participate.
