President Kuhlman thanked the Sculpture Committee (Mae Yamada, Charles Natsuhara and John Meneghini) for the fine unveiling program they organized. It was a moving and memorable event, and Issei is now a remarkable part of the museum's holdings B. President Kuhlman thanked board members who had contributed to the Building Fund, and asked all others to consider making a contribution. III. Treasury and Committee Reports A. Treasurer Pickett reported on the July financial statement and noted that funds have been segregated so income from all special grants and contracts is held in the US Bank money market account. B. Mike Stevens reported that the Public Relations Committee concluded their Neighborhood Campaign. During this effort, each household in our region (350) was given two tickets, an invitation to visit and a museum flyer. The effort has been marginally successful in terms of numbers of people using their tickets, but many more households are now aware of the museum. C. Bill Peloza noted that five sponsorships have been received for the Harvest Ball. Ticket prices have been set at $50 per person, increased due to the elevated cost of the dinner. IV. Staff Report A. Patricia Cosgrove reported that the City of Auburn's Information Services staff member visited the museum and will provide some suggestions for new computers, web access and telephones. This is significant, as the City is becoming more aware of the Museum's needs and is becoming more inclined to support them as they do other City departments. B. The museum director noted that the University of Washington Press has agreed to Co- Publish Shirakawa. The book is currently being designed and will not be ready for publication for about one year. Board members asked if any reporting or tax special considerations would have to be made due to the income from this book. Staff will investigate. V. Mystery Board Member Earl Hagen was revealed as the mystery board member. Did you know that his best man was Al Rossi, that he attended the same college as Mel Sinex, and that his youth was spent within 100 yards of the museum? VI. Adjourn President Kuhlman adjourned the meeting at 2:30. The next meeting will be held at the Library on September 13, from 1:30 to 2:30.
