Call To Order, Introductions, Approval of Minutes President Warren Kinggeorge A motion was made and moved to approve the minute of Feb 20, 2008 Guests were introduced: Kristi Mills has volunteered to lead the collection of items for the Harvest Ball auction. Alison Tisue is a UW student in Museology and will be joining the museum staff next month. It Board President Special Reports President Warren Kinggeorge A. Review of Museum Calendar Vice-President Beyersdorf Ronnie reviewed the calendar of events for March and April. The board discussed the events for the coming months. The Senior Center has a rental of the Olson Farm Barn for a Hoe Down Dance on Monday April 28, 2008. B. Museum Program Preview: School Programs Tara McCauley The board formed groups and evaluated study packages that are used at the museum for the various grades of children who visit during fieldtrips. The children get to study and learn about history and have a chance to make items that represent the historical events. The learning events are designed to fit the ages of the children. Every Kindergarten and third grade child in the Auburn School district tour the museum. There was a suggestion that maybe we can get the Auburn Reporter to do an article on the relationship with the Auburn School District. Terry Davis said he would take that on as part of the PR committee. III. Committees A. Finance Committee Treasurer Doug Hedger Doug said we are in good shape financial condition and we are $4400 ahead of where we were last year. Both expenses and income increase throughout the year. There have been some losses in our investment account and we are trying to find out what to do about them. We could take a loss at this time or we could just ride it out. Doug said he would report on the investment fund next month. The grant money is starting to come in to the museum accounts. The 4 Culture in King County is giving us a $25,000 grant to do landscape restoration at the Farm. Doug said that Patricia has facilitated a farm tour with Brenda Heinaman the Auburn City HR director. The result is increase in salary for Tara and Patricia, and a $43,000 budget allocation for developing the farm for public use. A motion was made to approve the report and was passed by the board. B. Fundraising Committee Chair Judi Roland Judi reported we will have two Appletini Tuesdays: May 20th and September 9, 2008. We will be mailing out invitations soon. We need sponsors for free Wednesdays. Board members need to encourage community participation. The next meeting is April 9, 2008. C. Harvest Costume Ball Committee Chair Terry Davis Terry covered the event and what the board members need to do. Sponsorships and table sales as key efforts. Terry will move the committee meeting to the afternoon. Michelle Oostertag from Columbia bank is joining the committee. Big Thanks to Auburn Regional Medical Center for sponsoring the Harvest Ball!
