Board Meeting Minutes,
May 21, 2008, 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Board Members Present: Ronnie Beyersdorf, Nancy Colson, DeAnna Burnett-Keener, Jan Cavanaugh,
Nancy Colson, Terry Davis, Mike Gerber, Gordy Nishimoto, Judi Roland, Jennifer Traufler, Lisa
Scarff,Mae Yamada
Board Members Excused: Pat Bailey, Doug Hedger, Warren Kinggeorge
Staff Present: Patricia Cosgrove, Kristen Bruhahn, and Tara Mc Cauley
Guests: Art Yorozu & Hiro Nishimura, Nisei Veterans Association
Call to Order and Approval of Minutes
A. Vice-President Beyersdorf the meeting to order and asked for the approval of the minutes.
MOTION CARRIED
B. Art & Hiro presented the Museum a plaque as a thank you for the exhibit "Courage Untold" They came
from Seattle for the presentation and were thanked by all.
IL Chair Report
A. Vice President Ron Beyersdorf: Thanked Janet Wells for her work on the Appletini and said he &
Rosetta had a great time. He also reviewed the Museum Calendar for the months of May & June. He
provided each Board member with a copy.
Patricia gave us a primer of Grant Administration. She presented a Chart which aids in paying the billings
from the correct Grant. She indicated that to receive payment you need to include the Contract, give a mid
term report and that the final report should supply photos of the work done. Patricia said the contract have
be let for the parking a restrooms, for finishing design of the inside of the house and for utilities to be
brought to the house and site.
III. Treasury and Committee Report: Doug H is in Hawaii so the Treasurers report was given by Kristen
Bruhahn. Net income as of 4-30-08 was $4746 and year to date $10239.
A. Fundraising: Chair Judi Roland reported on the Appletini and thanked Ron & Rosetta for the wonderful
food. She reported the Free Wednesdays are funded thru September. WE have $176,000 to raise in our
Capital Campaign. Board member DeAnna suggested contacting the WSU Small farm Group both for
fundraising and for volunteers. She also mentioned reviewing the Bank of America Community Heroes
web site and looking into a grant for aquatics education.
B. Public Relations Committee: Chair Terry Davis indicated the committee was meeting after this
meeting. He suggested recruiting volunteers by visiting service clubs. It was also recommended that we
send the Auburn Reporter a story and photos regarding the Appletini. The Sounder garage station exhibit is
completed. It will change as our exhibits change.
C. Harvest Ball Committee: Chair Terry Davis told board member to `get on it' in regards to
Sponsorships we are behind! He shared the "save the date" cards with us. We all thought it was a great

IV. Staff Report
Patricia gave us an update of the Olson Farm
