HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-18-2008Minutes of the White River Museum Board Meeting June 18, 2008 Members Present: Pat Bailey, Ron Beyersdorf, Deanna Burnett-Keener, Jan Cavanaugh, Doug Hedger, Warren Kinggeorge, Gordy Nishimoto, Judi Roland, Jennifer Traufler, Mae Yamada Members excused: Nancy Colson, Terry Davis, Gerry Honeysett, Lisa Scarff Members Absent: Mike Harbin Staff Present: Patricia Cosgrove, Kristen Bruhahn, Angels Stalgis, Janet Wells President Warren called the meeting to order at 1:35 PM. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. Board President Report: Warren asked if we wished to continue with our education 101 classes and we all said yes, they're helpful. With that said, Angela gave us a class in Collections Management. She talked about the policies that guide what is taken in and rejected. We can sell items that do not fit in with our collection. Vice President Ronnie presented the calendar for June & July. Committee Reports: Treasure Doug gave the financial report for the month of May. Net income for the year is $7515. The report was approved. Fundraising Chair Judi announced that we have 3 months of Free Wednesdays to sell. She also told us that we have an $8,000 grant from 4-culture to design signs and labels at the farm. Rotary of Auburn has donated $7,000 to cover fieldtrip admission and transportation for Farm visits. Soroptimists of Auburn have donated $7,000 to prepare the interior of the weaving shed. It will be provided in 3 payments. Collections Committee Chair Michelle announced the committee is meeting tomorrow. Harvest Costume Ball VP Ronnie said the most important thing to do now is sell tickets. The sponsorships are important to sell now. Tickets are available from Kristen and they will sell for $50 each. There are tables of 8. Staff Report: Janet Wells said volunteers are needed for the 4th Of July. Shifts are 11 AM to 1:30 and 1:30 to 4PM. Patricia gave us an update of the Olson Farm. She and Kirsten will prepare Daryl Faber on the budget for the farm and hope he will convince Shelly Coleman & the Mayor of the need to finance the farm for staffing, etc. Summer plans are to install the utilities all over the farm. Curator of Poultry, Kristin is raising 11 white Leghorn chicks in her garage. There will be a naming contest for the Chicks. A committee was established to make the many upcoming decisions concerning the farm. The committee consists of Judi, Jan, DeAnna & Michelle. The August meeting of the board will be at the Farm.
