HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-17-2008Minutes of the White River Museum Board Meeting Sept 17, 2008 Members Present: Ron Beyersdorf, Deanna Burnett-Keener, Jan Cavanaugh, Nancy Colson, Doug Hedger, Gerry Honeysett, Judi Roland, Lisa Scarff, Members Excused: Terry Davis, Mike Gerber, Michelle Marshman, Gordy Nishimoto, Warren Kinggeorge Members Absent: Mike Harbin, Pat Bailey, Jennifer Traufler, Mae Yamada Staff Present: Patricia Cosgrove, Kristen Bruhahn, Tara McCauley & Allison Tisue Vice President Ron called the meeting to order at 1:35 PM. Guest Chad Halverson of US Bank in Auburn presented the Board with a check for $1,000. for our free Wednesday program. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. Vice President Ron reviewed the calendar for the months of Sept & October. Tara gave us a report of the Farm tours which begin this Friday the 19t". She gave us the task of shaking cream into butter to give us a flavor of what the first graders do at the farm. In addition, the 1St graders visit the barn, the orchard, the garden where they will dig potatoes, and feed the chickens. We then enjoyed crackers and our freshly churned butter! It was suggested that tours be given outside of school tours... we need more volunteers and staff members to do that. There will be a video at the Harvest Ball showing off the amenities of the Farm. Committee Reports: Treasure Doug gave the financial repot for the month of August 31St. Net income for the year is $4,579. It was noted that the annual fund raising drive is at $4,890 and we have budgeted for $8,900. The report was approved. Fundraising Chair Judi announced that the Appletini was in the Auburn Reporter with photos and a nice article. As Capital Campaign Chair, Judi also met with King County Councilmember Pete Von Reichbauer to request $50,000 for walkways, fencing, labels and signage for the farm. He will get back to her in a few days. Harvest Costume Ball: We have 7 sponsors and need 25; have 8 tables committed and need 13. Kristy Mills, community volunteer heading up the auction was introduced and gave us a listing of auction items procured or promised. The live auction will be for cakes. Staff Report: Patricia told us the King County is reshaping the bank of the stream at the Farm and that she has interviewed 2 contractors to take over construction at the farm.
