HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-19-2008White River Valley Historical Society Board Meeting Minutes November 19, 2008, 1:30-2:30 p.m. Board Members Present: Pat Bailey, Ronnie Beyersdorf, Nancy Colson, Terry Davis, Doug Hedger, Gerry Honeysett, Warren Kinggeorge, Michelle Marshman, Gordy Nishimoto, Judi Roland, Lisa Scarff Board Members Excused: Jan Cavanaugh, Mike Gerber, Mike Harbin Jr, Jennifer Traufler Staff Present: Patricia Cosgrove, Tara McCauley, Alison Tisue Guests: Richard Artura, Clarissa Ruston 1. Call to Order and Approval of Minutes A. President Kinggeorge called the meeting to order and asked for the approval of the minutes. MOTION CARRIED B. Prospective Board members Richard Artura and Clarissa Ruston were introduced. 11. Chair Report A. President Kinggeorge asked the Nominating Committee for a report. Ronnie Beyersdorf, Vice President and Committee Chair noted that Judi Roland and himself would be serving a second term, and that they recommended Ronnie Beyersdorf move to the Presidency, Mike Gerber serve as Vice President, Doug Hedger serve again as Treasurer, with Lisa Scarff nominated for Secretary. Five seats on the board will be open, and nominated to fill them are: Richard Artura, Gator Chamberlain, Tom Campbell, Julie Herren and Clarissa Ruston. The Board accepted that slate and recommended that it be placed on the museum's website as notification to Society members. B. Tara McCauley involved the board in an element of the Salmon Situation sixth grade program at the farm. All Auburn School District first grade students have toured the farm already this year, and all sixth grade students will have this experience by mid-December. 111. Treasury and Committee Report A. Treasurer Hedger went over the third quarter financial statement, which looked quite good due to a successful Halloween Costume Ball. Ronnie Beyersdorf made a motion to accept the third quarter financial statement, seconded by Terry Davis. MOTION CARRIED He then presented the 2009 budget for review and discussion. This budget was developed with lessened expectations for the Ball and Annual Fund Drive, as a reflection of the poor economy. Terry Davis made a motion to accept the 2009 budget as presented, seconded by Gordy Nishimoto. MOTION CARRIED B. Treasurer Hedger presented the museum's 2007 tax form 990 to the board which was discussed and accepted by acclamation. C. Chair Terry Davis wrapped up Halloween Costume Ball 2008. It was quite a success, with a full room, happy partiers, many costumes, great decorations and music, and more per capita donated than in any other year. WAY TO GO TERRY! V. Staff Report A. Patricia Cosgrove presented information on the parking facility that is under design for the Mary Olson Farm. Due to the length of time required for permit and construction, it does not appear the farm will open to the public until spring 2010. VI. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 2:45.
