Board Meeting
February 21, 2007, 1:30 to 2:30
Muckleshoot Room, White River Valley Museum
1. Call to Order, Approval of Minutes and Introductions Gordy Nishimoto
A motion was made to approve the minutes the motion passed.
A. Ken Calvert, new board member is a retired carpenter and grew up in the
Auburn area. He was referred to the WRVM board by VP Warren Kinggoerge.
B. Russ Welch, new board member. Russ is an Auburn resident and senior
family worked on the founding of Boys Town-so it is in his blood.
II. Chair Report Gordy Nishimoto
A. Gordy `Lace Expert' Nishimoto
The lace show went over really well and there was a road show format for people who
brought in their collectable lace. There will be a follow up event at the museum on March 10 .
There will be demonstrations to show how to actually make lace.
III. Treasury and Committee Reports
A. Treasury Doug Hedger
On the second page of our report there was a large deduction for the gift shop. This was due
to an adjustment for the actual inventory in the store. We can now track exact sales, profits
and margins by item. We now have an accurate inventory system. Patricia said we were
awarded a $35,000 grant and four more grants pending. A motion was made and approved to
accept the treasurers report.
B. Long Range Plan Review Terry Davis
Patricia recapped the 2007 to 2011 Long Range Plan which we will provide the City of
Auburn. This important planning document provides the board and staff with a roadmap for
future development. Among the many details of this plan is a human resource agenda for
staffing at the farm; recommendation that we recruit volunteer and paid crews from Green
River Community College; that overalls would be appropriate uniforms for farm staff and
volunteers. The final section of the plan will be reviewed at the next board meeting.
C. Mary Olson Farm Capital Campaign Ronnie Beyersdorf and All
JB Rupert was introduced as the co-chair of the capital campaignh Committee meetings are
set for Fourth Wednesday at 1:30pm at the WRVM. February 28 is the next meeting. Board
members were asked to brainstorm names of prospective capital campaign committee
members from the community at large. The goal for this aspect of the campaign is $400k, with
$1.2 million already committed.
D. Collections Committee Warren Kinggeorge
The next meeting for this committee will be on April 25, 2007 at 2:OOpm at the WRVM.
Warren showed some of small new items that have been recommended for acceptance.
IV. Staff Report
A. April Newsletter: Farm Restoration
Patricia stated that there will be an update on the Mary Olson Farm in the next news letter.
B. Gateway at Farm
The new gate is in place, a sign will eventually hang from the top rail.
V. Upcoming Events Gordy Nishimoto
A. March 10, Lace Demonstration and Film
Terry talked about the Rotary scholarship dinner on May 12th 5p, and 9pm shows
Neil McCoy will entertain along with Bucky Covington.The shows are at the Auburn performing
arts center and benefit scholarships for needy young adults in Auburn.

o Museum's 4 Culture application for funding was ranked the highest in the County and
given the largest award. We will receive full funding, $35,000, for farmhouse exterior
restoration.
