Call To Order, Approval of Minutes Gordy Nishimoto and Introductions A motion was made and passed to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. It Chair Report Gordy Nishimoto July 4 Volunteers Needed The board members were asked to volunteer at the museum this upcoming July 4th when the museum is open extended hours. Doug Hedger suggested the maybe we could get a sponsor to sponor the 4th of July event. Ronnie Beyersdorf will sponsor the 4th of July event for the sponsor amount of $150. Russ Welch volunteered O III. Treasury and Committee Reports (next meeting dates) A. Finance Committee (7/12, 10 a.m.) Doug Hedger Doug stated that we are well ahead of last year according to the budget performance. We are doing well with all aspects of the business of the museum. We still need Free Wednesday support. The museum staff is doing well at controlling expenses. B. Mary Olson Farm Capital Campaign (6/27, 10 a.m.) Ronnie Beyersdorf, JB Rupert Ronnie reported on the Mary Olson Farm on site events now known as Appletini Tuesday Open Houses for the months of August and September. There will be a capital campaign meeting next Wed. June 27th. Now we need the support of the board as well as the Public Relations committee. Warren Kinggeorge will help Ronnie with Muckleshoot Catering by setting up a meeting with casino leadership. Patricia Cosgrove has the listed details of the open house plan and are separate from these meeting minutes. C. Harvest Costume Ball (7/3, 10 a.m.) Judi Roland, Doug Hedger Judi said we are still meeting monthly but will start weekly meetings in August. Doug reported on getting sponsors for the events. We reviewed the list of potential sponsors for tables at the harvest ball. Board members were assigned names and businesses on the list to contact about participation. Various businesses were read off for contacting. Kristen has the action to send letters to all the past WRVM board members. IV. Staff Report A. Farm Curriculum Development Tara McCauley Tara talked about the curriculum and assessment information being developed with Auburn School Teachers, one set for lgt and 2nd grade classes, another for6th and 7th grades. Where our Food Comes Frrom is the theme for the younger students, and Stream Ecology is the focus for middle school children. Pre and post visit lessons and interactive fieldtrips accommodating 90 children will be trial taught this fall. Tara will make a condensed presentation at the Harvest Ball as well as feature information at the Appletini Open House. POST MEETING: Gordy asked that Patricia and Ronnie to meet and review the bylaws and see if any updates need to be made. The primary alterations to be suggested are: 1. Redefine the Museum's service area to include north Pierce County now included in the City's limits. 2. Reword the length of time that an Officer can hold an office to allow for serving more than two years. 3. Delete reference to the now discontinued General Membership Meetings. 4. Delete a section that requires committees and tasks forces meet at least every 6 months. The Board will be asked to review these at the July meeting and vote at the August meeting.
