Introduction of Board Members: President Larry had us do a mixer to get better
acquainted. Then he passed the Chocolate! He then showed us the signage that
will be posted in 7 areas of our downtown directing people to the Museum. He
indicated that the City is working with the DOT for signage on Highway 18. He also
said that the City is working on a large sign at the newly redesigned entry to the
Park, off of Auburn Way South.
Chair Report: President Larry (acting Treasurer) presented the financial report as
of Dec 31, 2005. For the month there was a loss of $5705 but the year to date is a
profit of $2507. He asked for a motion to accept the Treasures Report. Motion
Passed.
Organization of the Historical Society: Patricia explained that the Society &
Museum is a 501 c3 and gave us a brief overview of the Museum & City
Partnership stating the City (Mayor) appoints'/ of the board and that the Society
nominates the other half. She spoke about the Olson Farm Project. She noted
that we now have 80-90 volunteers at the Museum.
Goals for 2006: Some of the 2006 goals are to establish a long range planning
committee to re-formulate a 5 year plan to go from 2007 to 2012, to attract more
visitors, create a marketing plan, build board members commitment, have a capital
campaign to finance the Olson Farm Restoration, to continue restoring the
buildings as grants permit, and to work toward having the farm up & partially
running within 2 years.
Responsibilities of Board Members: Larry Miller explained that as a board
member we are expected to attend board meetings, provide financial support and
be a member of the society, attend the events put on by the Museum, participate
on a committee and in general be a cheerleader for the Museum.
After a refreshment break we proceeded with committee assignments and tasks
