HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-18-2006White River Valley Historical Society Board Minutes January 18, 2006 Board Members Present: Pat Bailey, Ron Beyersdorf, Nancy Colson, Jan Cavanaugh, Terry Davis, Jean Farrington, Mike Gerber, Mike Harbin Jr., Dan Harris, Warren Kinggeorge, Michelle Marshman, Larry Miller, Janice Nelson, Gordy Nishimoto, Judi Roland, Mae Yamada Board Members Excused: Doug Hedger Board Members Absent: Tammy Balint, JB Rupert Staff Members Present: Patricia Cosgrove, Kristen Bruhahn, Tara McCauley, Betsy Bruemmer Call to Order & Approval of Minutes: President Larry called for additions & correction to the minutes. Mike Harbin asked to be listed as Mike Harbin Jr. After that correction the motion for approval was made and passed. Introduction of Board Members: President Larry had us do a mixer to get better acquainted. Then he passed the Chocolate! He then showed us the signage that will be posted in 7 areas of our downtown directing people to the Museum. He indicated that the City is working with the DOT for signage on Highway 18. He also said that the City is working on a large sign at the newly redesigned entry to the Park, off of Auburn Way South. Chair Report: President Larry (acting Treasurer) presented the financial report as of Dec 31, 2005. For the month there was a loss of $5705 but the year to date is a profit of $2507. He asked for a motion to accept the Treasures Report. Motion Passed. Organization of the Historical Society: Patricia explained that the Society & Museum is a 501 c3 and gave us a brief overview of the Museum & City Partnership stating the City (Mayor) appoints'/ of the board and that the Society nominates the other half. She spoke about the Olson Farm Project. She noted that we now have 80-90 volunteers at the Museum. Goals for 2006: Some of the 2006 goals are to establish a long range planning committee to re-formulate a 5 year plan to go from 2007 to 2012, to attract more visitors, create a marketing plan, build board members commitment, have a capital campaign to finance the Olson Farm Restoration, to continue restoring the buildings as grants permit, and to work toward having the farm up & partially running within 2 years. Responsibilities of Board Members: Larry Miller explained that as a board member we are expected to attend board meetings, provide financial support and be a member of the society, attend the events put on by the Museum, participate on a committee and in general be a cheerleader for the Museum.
