Treasury & Committee Reports: Doug Hedger gave the October Treasurers report. He said that it does not show about $2000 from the Harvest Ball. He then introduced the proposed budget for 2007. The increased Salaries line reflects paid vacation for Kristen & Janet and the addition of 2 interns. He suggested that we ask the City to take over the insurance expense since they are self-insured. Terry Davis moved to accept the budget and Ron Beyersdorf seconded the motion. Motion passed. Harvest Ball: Judi Roland reported that we made $21,500 in profit, which exceeded the budgeted amount. She announced that October 27, 2007 at the Sea Tac Double Tree is the date for the next Harvest Ball and it will be a 1970's theme "Its Funkadelic". Review of the Long Range Plan: Terry Davis reviewed the Museum Educational Services Tasks. Suggestions were made that we contact the Tribal College to partnership with their programs and to put museum information in their Human Resource department. Also the Tribe has a canoe committee with may be helpful in restoring the canoe we wish to fix. Under Museum Preservation Projects it was suggested to index all items in the collection and put that information on line to improve the ability to find what is in our collection. It was also suggested that we contact people in the Filipino community to enlist their help in procuring items of Filipino History. And last it was suggested that the Curator of Collections teach preservation classes. Staff Report: Staff charted the investment in the museum made by the City of Auburn since 1989, contrasting this with the funds raised or earned by the Historical society during that same time. Over $2.2 million has been invested by the City, enabling over $3 million to be raised by the Society, resulting in a 1.38 return on investment. Board members were appreciative of this report and noted that it did not include the value of volunteer time and contributions. Next Meeting: 12/20 at 1:30.
