Introduction to the Mary Olson Farm:
Patricia gave us an overview of the site and some of the historical background.
The farm is on 60 acres. The barn is expected to be used as the gathering place for the
beginning of the tours. The site is unique because it shows 19th century agriculture, is a
place to understand the past and has not been modernized. The site has a very good
master plan that lays our all the work that needs to be done. Currently the buildings are
being made stable, the drive is being restored to its original place. Patricia shared that
she had been told that the Olson Farm is the best and most intact historic farm in the
county.
Holly Taylor brought us up to date on possible funding ideas for the Farm. We need to
raise one million more. She indicated that 75% would be coming from grants and 25%
from local donors.
Treasury and Committee Reports:
Ann Mehl gave the August 31 st treasurers report. The August surplus was
$2447. and year to date it is $1333. Motion to accept the Treasurers report passed.
Harvest Ball:
Nichole gave us an update of the Harvest Ball. It's theme is "Blue Mystic" She
said that the Sea Tac Hilton is once again giving us a discounted room rate for the night
of the event. We need raffle items and each of us is asked to bring a bottle of wine to
the Museum with a note attached as to why we like it. Board members are asked to be
Table Captains. We need to finalize the sponsorships and the regular tickets sales will
be available the end of this month.
