HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-21-2005White River Valley Historical Society Board Meeting Minutes December 21, 2005 Board Members Present: Pat Bailey, Jan Cavanaugh, Mike Gerber, Mike Hamilton, Doug Hedger, Kathy Lewis, Michelle Marshman, Mike McDermott, Ann Mehl, Larry Miller, Gordy Nishimoto, JB Rupert, Warren Kinggeorge Board Members Excused: Janice Nelson, Mae Yamada Board Members Absent: Jean Farrington, Dan Harris Staff Members Present: Patricia Cosgrove, Kristen Bruhahn, Tara McCauley Guests: Linda Cowen, Superintendent of Auburn Schools who thanked the Board for their commitment to the Museum and preserving the History of Auburn. She then talked about the upcoming replacement levy on Feb 7th for the School District. She explained what programs the levy money benefits. Call to Order and Approval of Minutes: President Larry Miller called the meeting to order at 1:35 PM and asked for the approval of the minutes. JB Rupert motioned, Kathy Lewis 2nd and the motion was passed. Chair Report: President Larry gave a review of what happened in 2005. He noted that the Harvest Ball made in 2000 $10,000 and this past year 25,000. Quite a difference! He also said 20 new volunteers were trained and that for the first time we have too many volunteers. He talked about the Basket Exhibit that drew people from miles. Also over the last three years over 6500 photos have been entered in a database. Group tours are up and the word is getting out about what a gem the Museum is. The Olsen Farm project is coming along and will be open to the public more quickly than thought. Al in all a very good year! Recognition of Retiring Board Members: Patricia gave each retiring board member a photo that had a special significance to them. Retiring board members Mike Hamilton, Kathy Lewis, Mike McDermott and Ann Mehl were thanked for their years of service. Treasury and Committee Reports: Ann Mehl gave the November 30th Treasurers report. The month had a deficit of $12,393 because of the Harvest Ball invoices that were paid. Year to date we have a net income of $8212. She noted that the end of year figure would be around $4500.00 about the same as last year. Selection of New 2006 Board Members: City of Auburn Appointments: Pat Bailey, term to expire 12-2007 Ronnie Beyersdorf, term to expire 12-2008 Terry Davis, term to expire 12-2008 Election of Historical Society Representatives: Nancy Colson, term to expire 12-2008 Mike Harbin, term to expire 12-2007 Judi Roland, term to expire 12-2008 Gordy Nishimoto, term to expire 12-2008 JB Rupert, term to expire 12-2008 President Larry asked to any discussion and a motion was made by Kathy Lewis, 2nd by Doug Hedger that the slate of Historical Board members be accepted. Motion passed. Selection of Officers: The nominating committee Recommendations are: President: Larry Miller Vice President: Gordy Nishimoto Treasurer: Doug Hedger Secretary: Jan Cavanaugh Pat Bailey moved to accept the slate of Officers, 2nd by Ann Mehl and the motion passed. Patricia announced that there are two new grants not on the books yet that were obtained by Holly. A $3,000 grant for the design of the interior of the house at Olsen Farm and a $5,000 grant from the National Trust of Historical Preservation to re-design the inside of the Barn. Both President Larry and Patricia thanked the Board Members for serving, and wished all a Merry Christmas. Upcoming Events: Tara announced that on December 30 there is an all day craft event at the Museum. The Railroad Lectures will take place Feb.3rd and March 3rd Cascade Crossings will take place Feb 11, March 11th & April 8th.
