UVhite River Valley Historical Society Boazd Meeting Minutes , October 16, 2002, 1:30-2:30 p.m Board Members Present: Maiissa Armstrong, Michael Cassella-Blackburn, Lori Anne Claudon, Ray Jerry, Nicole Karwhite, Bud Kuhlman, Maxine Moergeti, Charles Natsuhara, Patty Osthus, Bill Peloza, Dick Pickett, Mike Stevens, Mae Yamada. Board Members Ezcused: Earl Averill, Earl Hagen, Hans Torklep Board Members Abseirt: Debbie Maguue . Staff Present: Patricia Cosgrove, Tina Brewster-Wray. Guests: Bill Andrews L Ca11 to Order and Approval of Minutes A. President Armstrong called the meeting to order and asked for the approval of the minutes. MOTION CARRIED B. President Armstrong introduced retiring scheduler of volunteer, Bill Andrews. After serving for over 4 years, Bill is stepping down. A plaque and hearty thanks were given to Bill. II. Chair Report A. President Armstrong tU"ked soon to retire Boazd Member Bud Kuhlman for working through a. somewhat lengthy process to acquire museum signage on Auburn Way South. A plan has been developed with Council Member Gene Cerino and otherentities in the park, and two ideal sites have been located. The process now goes to the City Planning office For review, with action not expected for several months. B. Marissa,Armstrong represented the museum at the annual Chamber of Commerce banquet, where we received an awazd for the Outstanding Historical Presentation'with Limited DramatizaUon, in keeping with their academy aNvards theme. . III. Treasury and Committee Report A. Charles Natsuhara reported that the Nominating Committee had met and was completing their work, with the full slate of new board members and ofScers to be recommended in November. ' B: :Patty Osthus reviewed the October financial report, noUng that the overall picture was healthy, though October was a month with several unusual expenses. C. Lori Anne Claudon and Michael Cassella-Blackburn reported that there were great expectations for this year's Harvest Masquerade Ball. About 19 or 20 tables were expected to be filled, and sponsorships were slightly above,last year. ' . ' V. Staff Report A. Direc[or Cosgroye reported that the architects had provided specifications for roofing, which have been sent to three roofers. Grant funds will cover these costs, elcpected to begin as soon as possible. T'he architcet team is currently designing a plan to handle drainage around the barn and o{chard, work for that to begin next spring, ' also funded by ihe State grant. ' B. Curator of Collections Tina Brewster-Wraylpresented a wonderful program on the progress being made , storing our photographic collection records on a database. Of our 6000+ photographs, about 1000 have been transferred to this system, enabiing one to search £or many keylwords to access the collection in a most meaningfiil way. Great work Tina and volunteers! N. New Business A. Ahl Tee-ah opens Tuesday evening, November 12'~, please bring a friend and show offthe museum. .
