' . • , White River Valley Historical Society Board Meeting Minutes March 8, 2000, 1:30 to 2:30, Museum Board Members Present: Marissa Armstrong, Eazl Averill, Libby Dykstra, Earl Hagen, Mike Hamiltoq Bud Kuhlman, Debbie Maguire, John Meneghini, Maxine Moergeli, Charles ' Natsuhara, Doris Ramstead; Bill Peloza, Mike Stevens, Daryl Thompson, Hans Torklep, Mae Yamada Board Members Excused: A1 B'Hymer, Walter Pacheco Staff Present: Patricia Cosgrove, Dick Deal Guests Present: Dottie Fitchett, Marie Little (Alderwood Manner Heritage Association) 1. Call to Order and Approval of Minutes President Kuhlman.called the meeting to order and asked that the minutes be approved as corcected IILA.; third line to read: "maintenance fund and allocation for special projects". APPROVED II. Chair Report A. President Kuhlman introduced new board member and treasurer, Dick Pickett. Dick is the CEO of Auburn's: newest community bank, Valley Bank. III. Treasury and Committee Reports A. Mel Sinex who has been substituting as the Treasurer presented the treasury report. B. Earl Averill reported tfiat two upgrade computers aze expected to be delivered from . the City of Auburn in the next month. Once the building renovations are complete, Eari would like to instalt a network, and help with other computing improvements. C. Mike Hamilton reported'that the building addition is in for permit and that the - construction committee is seeking ways to reduce the budget. Currently the estimate is $280,000, and about $190,000 has been raised. D. Charles Natsuhara reported for the sculpture committee. ARer looking at three artists - work, visiting their studios and speaking with.their previous clients, the committee selected Reynaldo Rivera of Albuquerque. One other possible artists was over our budget, two were` compatable with the, project. The committee made the selection ' based on artistic style. A contract has been drafted and will be sent for signatures later this month. A model of the proposed sculpture was made by Mr. Rivera and shown to the board. Earl Averill made a motiom to support this action, seconded by Earl Hagen. IV. StaffReport ht, A. Patncia Cosgrove reporte th urator of education Barb Williams has been visiting GQ~~ classes prowdin~ the History Mystery class. She is fully booked for this free program through April 7 B. The museum director noted that the annual staff evaluations have been compfeted and tfiat everyone's performance is very positive. C. Cosgrove noted-that a$60,000 award ;was made by King County to reroof the Olson bam. A request Has been made to the Boeingl Company for building fund support and to several.other foundations. V. New Business A. Bud Kuhlman announced that there is a family class on hat making being offered at the museum on April,20 and 21. B. To help introduced board members to one another, each month three clues will be ~ announced from which board members must identify a mystery person in their midst. John Meneghini fit the bi1L he rides a bike regularly, he has had a carpeted garage and appreciates the benefit of square headed nuts on a caboose. VI. Adjourn President Kuhlman adjoumed the meeting;at 2:40. The next meeting will be April 12, 1:30 to 2:30.
