AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY-OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, REPEALING CERTAIN SECTIONS
OF AUBURN CODIFIED CITY ORDINANCE CHAPTER 18.40 OF THE ZONING
ORDINANCE RELATING TO HEIGHT RESTRICTIONS AT THE AUBURN MUNICIPAL
AIRPORT AND CREATING NEW SECTIONS THEREOF.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Auburn Codified City Ordinance Sections 18.40.060, 18.40.070,
.18.40.080, 18.40.090, 18.40.110, 18.40.1_40,,and 18.40.190 of the,Zoning,Ordinance
;
relating to height restrictions at the Auburn Municipal Airport are herewith
repealed in their entirety. „ c_, •
Section 2. There is herewith created new sections of Auburn Codified
City Ordinance Chapter 18.40 of the Zoning Ordinance relating to neight restrictions
at the Auburn Municipal Airport which shall read as:follows:

"18.40.060 - Approach Surface.
A non-instrument approach surface is established at each end of
all non-instrument runways for landings and takeoffs. The inner width
of the approach surface is 250 feet at a distance of 200 feet beyond the
physical end of the runway, and it expands uniformly to a width of 1250
feet. This approach surface extends for a horizontal distance of 5000
feet at a slope of twenty to one (20 to 1). The elevation of the inner
width of the approach surface is the same as the elevation of the nearest
point on the runway centerline.
18.40.070 - Transitional Surface.
The transitional surface extends outward and upward at right angles
to the runway centerline and the runway centerline extends at a slope
• of seven to one from a line 125 feet from the runway centerline or run-
way centerline extended for 200 feet beyond each runway end and from the
sides of the approach surfaces. The elevation of.the line 125 feet from
the runway centerline or runway centerline extended for 200 feet beyond
each runway end is the same as the elevation of the nearest point on the
runway centerline. .

18.40.080 -,Horizontal Surface. '
A horizontal surface is established above the airport. This
horizontal surface is a plane 150 feet above the established airport
elevation. The perimeter of which is constructed by swinging ares
5000 feet in a radius from the center of each end of the primary surface of the runway, and connecting the adjacent ares 6y lines tangent to those
ares. Jhe primary surface is longitudinally centered on the runway with .
a width of 250 feet and extends 200 feet beyond each end of the runway.
18.40.090 - Conical'Surface.
A conical surface is established which extends outward and upward
from the periphery of the horizontal surface at a slope of twenty to
one (20 to l°) for a horizontal distance of 4000 feet. .
. 18.40:110 - Height Limitations - Non-Instrument Approach Surface.
The height limitations for non-instrument approach surfaces begin at
a point 200 feet from and at the centerline elevation of the end of the
ruriway-and extends for a•horizontal distance of 5000 feet at a slope of
twenty to one (20 to 1).
18.40.140 - Height Limitations - Conical Surface.
The conical surface involves a slope of'twenty to one (20 to 1) for a
horizontal distance of 4000 feet. The relative difference i:n elevation
6etween the inner and outer edge of the conical surface i:s 200 feet. The
elevation of the,outer edge of the conical surface is 350 feet above the .
esta6lished airport elevation..,
18.40.190 - Structure and Use Permits.
A. Except as specifically provided in sub section 1, 2@nd 3 of this.
sub section no material'change shall be made in the use of land and no
' structure or tree shall be.erected, altered, planted.or otherwise established.

in any zone created by this chapter unless a permit therefore has been applied
for and granted 6y the;Building Depar,tment of the City. Each.application for
a permit sfia}1 indicate the purpose for`whicfi the permit is desired; with
sufficient information to permit it to be,determined,whether•the.cesulting
use, structure or tree would conform to the re9ulations therein prescribed.
If such.determination is in the affirmative, the'permit•shall be granted.

1. In the area lying within the limits of the horizontal
zone and conical zone, no permit shall be required for
any tree orstructure less than seventy five (75) feet
of vertical height above the ground. Except when because
of terrain, land contour or topographic features such as
trees or structures would extend above the height limits
prescribed for such zone.
2. In the area lying within the limits of the non=instrument
approach surface but at a horizontal distance of not less than five tfiousand (5000) feet from a point two hundred
(200) feet from each end of the runway, no permit shall
be required for any tree or structure less than seventy- -
. five (75) feet of vertical height above the ground, except
when such trees or structures would extend above the height
limit prescribed for such non-instrument•approach zone.,
3. The transitional surface does not extend beyond the perimeter
of the horizontal surface. .
Section 3. ~This:Ordinance shall take effect and be.in force five (5)~
days from and after its passage, approval and publication, as provided by law.
