HomeMy WebLinkAbout3689 . . . , , . , ORDINANCE N0:'3 6 8 9 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASNIfJGTON, REPEALIfJG AUBURN CODIFIED CITY ORDINANCES 3.12.010 AND 9.12.020 RELATING TO PUBLIC CONTRACTS, APJD CREATING PdEW AUBURN CODIFIED CITY ORDINANCES 3.12.010 AND 3.12.020 THEREOF. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, 41ASHINGTON DO ORDAIN AS • FOLLOWS: Section l. Auburn Codified City Ordinances 3.12.010 and 3.12.020, relating to public contracts, are herewith repealed. Section 2. There is herewith created new Auburn Codified City Ordinances 3.12.010 and 3.12.020, which shall read as follows: "3.12.010 Requir,ed when. Whenever the city constructs any public work or improvement by contract or day labor, if the estimated cost of such work or improvement, including cost of materials, supplies and equipment exceeds the sum of ten thousar.d dollars, the same shall be done by contract after a call for bids which shall be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder. Provided, that whenever this public work or improvement is for construction of water mains, such sum shall be fifteen thousand dollars. 'The city council.shaT1 have posver by resolution to reject any or all bids to make further calls for bids in the same manner as the ori- ginal call, or if in i;tsjudgment the improvement or work, including the purchase of supplies, material and equip- ment, can be done by the city at less cost than the lowest bid submitted, , it may do so without making a further call for bids or ardarding any contract therefor. If no.bid is received on the first call the city council may readvertise and make a second call, or may enter into a contract without any further call, or may purchase the supplies, material or equipment and perform such work or improvement by day labor." Before any contract is let for the performance of any public work or improvement for which the estimated cost thereof including costs of materials, supplies and equipment shall exceed the sum of ten thousand dollars, provided, that whenever this public work or improvement is for construction of water mains, such sum shall be fifteen thousand dollars, a notice of a call for bids, stating the nature of.the contract to be let and the time on or before which sealed bids for the same must be filed with the city clerk, shall be given. by posting notice thereof in a public place in the city and by publishing in the off,icial newspaper of the city once each week for two consecutive weeks before the date fixed for opening the bids." Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and publication, as provided by 1aw.
