CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING
Meeting Minutes of January 12, 2010
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held January 12, 2010, in
Resource Room #2 located on the second floor of Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street, Auburn, WA.
The following members were in attendance.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Dick Kammeyer, Member Gene Cerino and Member Cyril Van Selus.
STAFF PRESENT: Police Chief Jim Kelly, Assistant City Attorney Steven Gross, and Civil Service
Secretary Terry Mendoza.
ACTION:
Chairman Kammeyer called the meeting to order at 3:34 p.m.
Chairman Kammeyer introduced and welcomed Gene Cerino as the newest member to the Civil Service
Commission. Member Cerino replaces Charles Booth.
Approval of the December 8, 2009, Civil Service Commission meeting minutes:
• Minutes were accepted as written. Motion by Member Cerino, Member Van Selus seconded.
Approval of the January 6, 2010, Special Civil Service Commission meeting minutes:
• Minutes were accepted as written. Motion by Member Cerino, Member Van Selus seconded.
Approval of the motion to re-elect Dick Kammeyer to serve as Chairman of the Civil Service Commission
for 2010:
• Motion by Member Van Selus. Member Cerino seconded.
Approval of the Re-Employment/Appointment Lists for Police Officer and Sergeant:
• Motion by Member Cerino. Member Van Selus seconded.
Approval to begin the process of conducting a promotional test for the position of Police Commander:
• Motion by Member Cerino. Member Van Selus seconded.
UPDATES:
Police Chief Jim Kelly provided updates on the following:
• Commission approved Police department changes are effective January 16, 2010, and a
Memorandum of Understanding with the Police Guild on the resource reallocation has been
drafted.

There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting adjourned at 3:45 p.m.
