Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Chairman Len Elliott. Those Board members attending, in addition to Mr. Elliott were Karen Wright, Bryce Landrud and Lonnie Sundal. Arnie Galli and Lisa Harmon were absent. Also present at the meeting were staff members: Parks Manager Mike Miller and Parks Horticulturist Kirk Hadley. II. Minutes The minutes of the January meeting were approved as distributed. III. Correspondence/Public Input Mr. Miller reported about the 81 trees the Parks Department received from Furney's Nursery for free. The Nursery was getting rid of some old stock from their retail inventory and was valued at $9,500.00. Mr. Hadley described the three goals the City tried to accomplish with the donated trees. The first goal was to continue to plant different varieties of trees at Les Gove Park to create an arboretum. The second goal was to replace trees that we had lost at various parks over time and the third goal was to continue planting native trees out at Isaac Evans Park to eventually replace the Cottonwood trees that are slowly growing older and unhealthy. IV. Old Business A. K Street - Neighborhood Grant Completion Mr. Miller advised that the Eagle Scout Troop was set to plant on Saturday, February 9tn and that locates were called in on Monday, February 1. Mr. Elliot will contact the Auburn Reporter and he thought a Tree Board presence would be good. B. Significant Tree Recommendation Mr. Landrud suggested two trees. A Big Leaf Maple up by Cooper's Corner and a Red Oak near East Main. Mr. Miller and Mr. Landrud were going to look at the tree after the meeting. AUBURN * MORE THAN YOU IMAGiNED C. Work Plan Mr. Landrud sent some brochures to Mrs. Harmon. V. New Business A. Arbor Day Tree Mr. Hadley mentioned that the Parks Director would like to plant the Arbor Day Tree at Les Gove Park near the Barrier Free Playground. Mrs. Sundal said that the Garden Club would be making a donation for the Arbor Tree again this year. VI. Board Recommendations/Input VII. Department Report Mr. Miller reported that the fundraising for the Barrier Free Playground has surpassed the $200,000 mark. VIII.
