AUBURN,,WASHINGTON TUESDAY APRIL 1. 1958
Regular mesting of the Citp Council of the City of Auburn,
held at $:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers at the City Hall.
The meeting was called to order by Mapor Clark.
Councilmen present: Hitchcock, Rupert, Stalder, Snodgtass,
Raven and Petersen.
Cvuncilman absent: Kuehn
Minutes of the previous meeting held March 18, 1958, were
approved as mailed.
HOUSING COMMITTEE
Councilman Rupert reported that the Housing Committee met and
reviewed the terms of the agreement. He then read a letter from
5 Auburn Terrace Tennants requesting and extension since it is so
hard to find a home.
It was moved by Rupert and 2nd by ftaven that the Council carr'
out the Agreement that Mapor Clark worked out providing when and
apartments becomes vacant no one else moves in.

THOSTEN30N REQUEST
It was moved by Stalder and 2nd bp Petersen that the City
Attorney be instructed to draw up and Ordinanee not to allow any
electric fences in the City Limits.

INSURANCE
Councilman Petersen requested City Clerk to read the bid re-
ceived from Jaek Sprenger to cover the City of Auburn with insuran
Quoting $4,442•32 the first year and $4,168.73 the next two years.
It was moved by Petersen and 2nd;;,bp Raven that the City accep
the bid.

ORDINANCE #1235
It was moved by Petersen and 2nd by Raven that Ordinance #123'
entitled An ordinance of the Citp of Auburn, Washington, providing
for the improvement of a portion of Auburn Avnue in the City of
Auburn, by the construction of sanitary sewers, all in accordance
with a petition signed bp a majority of the affected property ownei
and filed with the City Clerk of said City and a certification of
the City Engineer of said City that a majority of the affected
property cwners have signed the peition and that all of the facts
set forth in said petition are true and that the estimated eost
to the propertp will not exceed the limit established by law, creai
a local improvement district; providing for the necessary proposed
improvements; prescribing the mode of payment of assessments and
creating a local improvement district fund; and creating a local
improvement district therefor. be introduced and adopted with the
following roll call bote being recorded: Hitchcock, yes; Rupert,
yes; 3talder, yes; Snodgrass, yes; Raven, yes; and Petersen, yes.
RESOULTION # 3 $
It was moved by Rupert and 2nd by Stalder that Resoultion #3$
entitled A resoultion of the Citp of Auburn, King Countp, Wash.
relating to the transfer of funds from the L.I.D. reimbursement
Fund to the materials and supplies fund and to the extra paproll
fund. BQ adopted with the following roll call vote being reEOrded
Hitchcock, yes; Rupert, yes; 3talder, yes; Snodgrass, yes; Raven,
yes; 8c Petersen, yes.

Water Supt. reported that the Johnson Manuf. Co. were dis-
continuing the Hill Hydraulic Ram and were offering arts pattern:
molds & blueprints as a group at a reduced price of il,756-00.
It was moved by Rupert and 2nd by Hitchcock that the group of
supplies be purchased from the company.

ENGINEER
City Engineer stated that since Ordinance #1235 was just pas
for the sewer improvement that the eouneil sh+ouid eall for bids o
give power to negotiate so that the project could get under way.
City Clerk stated you can spend as much as $5,000 without calling
for bids. It was decided to wait for the ordinance to be publish
which will be at the next meeting.
THOSTENSON
Mr. Thastensvn requested the City Clerk to read Ordinance #Z
and sections that pertained to his request.

Councilman Petersen asked who received the bid for the powe
mower.
The City Clerk stated Ivan W. Lee receivad it for his quote
of $999.00. It was reported that it met specifications.
SIDEWALKS
Engineer reported they are coming along very well.
WEBSTER REQUEST
A letter nas received from R.J. Webster stating he had re-
quested a building permit a month ago and has received no answer.
City Attorney stated that Mr. Webster will rece3ve the lett
concerning his request tomorrow.
U.S. PROJECTOR CORP.
A request from the U.S. Projector for rezoning frvm light
industrial to heavy industrial.
Mayor Clark asked the City Engineer to tell the Council more
about the request. City Engineer stated that for the use thep pla
that it eomes within the scope of the 1ight industrial zone so the
is no need for rezoning.
Engineer recommended that where they park the box cars they
should put a flashing light or some warning.
it was moved by Hitcheock and 2nd by Raven to accept the pro-
position.

LQCOMOTIVE
Mr. Aabp reported that the locomotive is in plaee and the
fence is started it should be completed by Sundap. City Clerk sta
that an emergencp ordinance should be drawn up to cover the cost
of moving the locomotive.
It was moved by Stalder and 2nd by Petersen that the City
Attorney be instructed to draw up the necessary ordinance.

QUARTERLY REPORTS
Quarterly reports for Police Court, Cemetery operations and
Punchboard and Xmse. Games operations for Jan, Feb. and March, 19
were received.
Thesa reported were ordered placed on file.

to draw warrants in payments,
MAYOR CLARK
Mayor Clark stated that the 3 newly elected Councilmen and th
new Mayor would be installed and take the office of the Councilinen
who were appointed. He then thanked the Council members and Depa .
ment Heads and various ones for their co-operation during his term
of offiee.

He then asked the three councilmen forward, George Petersen,
Fred Towner, and George Aaby to be sworn in to their offiae by
City Attorney Lyle Schneider. They then took their seats.
The newly elected Mayor John S. Denise Sr. was then sworn in
to his office and Mayor Clark presented the gavel to Mayor Denise.
Mayor Denise then introduced his family and stated that all
the Department Heads would stay as appointed and Tom Bolton would
replace B.C. Gosney as Water Supt.
He then stated if no objection the meeting would be adjourned,
