' City Council grant permission to enter into Consultant Agreement No. AG-C-386 with Makers for design
services for Project No. CP0922, City Hall Plaza.
Background 8ummary:
The Ciy Council approved Resolution No. 3985 supporting the redevelopment of the City Hall Plaza into
a Town Center Plaza for the area around the intersection of West Main and Division Street, including the
City Hall Plaza, which will provide a public square with improved aesthetics for people to gather. The .
Downtown Redevelopment Committee began working with John Nelson, Maul Foster Alongi, to develop a
conceptual plan for the City Hall Plaza renovation. The Downtown Redevelopment Committee approved
the conceptual plan in March 2009.
Identified in the 2010-2015 Capital Facilities Plan is $688,500 for Phase 1 of this project However,
through the Local Revitalization Funding statute, where Auburn is identifed as a demonstration project,
the City is able to fund the balance of the project Total project cost is estimafed to be $1,980,000 for the
City Hall Plaza.
The scope of the consultant agreement includes the completion of final design and bid documents for the
City Hall Plaza and provide up to two conceptual design options for the extension of the Plaza south across Main Streef on the Marvel Building site. The consultant contract is anticipated to not exceed
$320,000. The project goals are to identify and fix the drainage problem; remove and replace in the Committee
approved pattem the lower level Pavement, open the view into the plaza, improve lighting, and create an
inviting gathering space for the public through artwork, furniture, and coffee kiosk.

• Main Street/South Division Street intersection corners are also part of Promenade project and those will need to be
coordinated between the two design teams.
• City Hall Plaza project and Promenade project will be coordinated; design phase will be underway for both projects soon with
the City Hall Plaza project slightly ahead.
