Yes Additional Information Regarding Supply and Demand Side WUE Efforts Include any other information that describes how you and your customers use water efficiently: In 2009 the City continued efforts to reduce unaccounted for water, performing leak detection and repair, metering hydrant use, and repairing breaks. Distribution system leakage for 2009 was 10.2%, slightly above the 10% target.The City encourages the use of water conserving plants in landscaping for both public and private projects.The City continued to implement the low flow shower head give away program, providing free low flow shower heads so customers could replace their higher flow shower heads. The City continued to install new service meters, replace older existing meters and perform meter calibration.The City continued to educate customers about water use efficiency practices.The City continued to evaluate rates that encourage water use efficiency. Do not mail, fax, or email this report to DOH In 2009, the City gave away 509 shower heads for an estimated consumption savings (reduction) of 1,857,850 gals.The goal of 1 percent reduction per year in equivalent residential unit (ERU) values over 6-year planning period was adopted in 2nd half of 2009. Insufficient data is available to estimate the reduction in ERU.The city is currently implementing WUE program measures such as school outreach through Water Festival, theme shows/fairs such as Kids Day, speakers' bureau, program promotion, water audits, bills showing consumption history, water saving device kits and conservation pricing.
