I. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 2:10 by Chairman Len Elliott. Those Board members
attending, in addition to Mr. Elliott were Karen Wright, Lonnie Sundal and Arnie Galli. Lisa
Harmon and Bryce Landrud were absent. Also present at the meeting were stafF members,
Parks Maintenance Manager Mike Miller, Environmental Protection Manager Chris Anderson and
Parks Secretary Julie Mehl.
II. Minutes
The minutes of the March meeting were approved as distributed.
III. Correspondence/Public Input
Mr. Miller showed the board where the Arbor Tree was to be planted on Wednesday, April 14 at
10 am in Les Gove Park.
IV. Old Business
A. Significant Tree Nomination
Mr. Miller will follow up on significant tree nomination next week.
B. Arbor Day Observance
Tree planting to be held at Les Gove Park on Wednesday, April 14 at 10 am. The
Auburn Garden Club has donated a Fragrant Snowbell.
V. New Business
A. Mr. Anderson relayed there will be a Tree Meeting April 7 at 1:00 pm regarding the
City's program for hazardous trees, Tree City USA, neighborhood tree information etc.
VI. Board Recommendations/Input
A. Mr. Elliott reminded the group that we are still actively looking for a new board member.
VII. Department Report
A. Mr. Miller gave an update on the upcoming Clean Sweep project on May 8. There are to be
two tree plantings, one on 37th Street and one on Auburn Way / Auburn Ave.
B. Mr. Miller informed the board that the Gymnasium construction will begin mid May and
finish within eleven months.
C. Mr. Miller commented they have acquired a merry go round for the Barrier Free Playground
where children in wheelchairs can roll onto for play. Marblemount Quarry will be donating
200 tons of rock for the Barrier Free Playground.
VIII. Adjournment
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:40 pm.
