Background Summary:
The City of Auburn has a continued need to provide disaster education to the public. For the past three
we have utilized the AmeriCorps VISTA program to coordinate this function and deliver public
years,
education. The program provides one full-time volunteer to the City, who receives a living stipend and
health insurance through a federal program. The program requires a $5500 local match, however grant
funds received under the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) program are authorized
and allocated for use as the match.

RESOLUTION NO. 4600
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE
OF A GRANT FROM THE WASHINGTON SERVICE CORPS TO
PROVIDE A FULL-TIME MEMBER TO THE CITY OF AUBURN,
AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO
EXECUTE THE NECESSARY AGREEMENTS TO ACCEPT SAID
MEMBER
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn has an office of Emergency Management,
dedicated to preparing the City and its residents for disaster; and
WHEREAS, the Washington Service Corps provides full-time disaster
education volunteers to local programs through the AmeriCorps VISTA
ReadyCorps program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn desires to provide comprehensive disaster
education to Auburn residents; and
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn has been accepted as a host site for a
2010/2011 VISTA member.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Purpose. The City Council of the City of Auburn hereby
accepts a grant from the Washington Service Corps of one VISTA member, from
August 27, 2010 to August 31, 2011.
Section 2. Implementation. The Mayor of the City of Auburn is hereby
authorized to implement such administrative procedures as may be necessary to
carry out the directions of this resolution.

Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect upon passage and signatures hereon.
