I. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 2:04 by Chairman Len Elliott. Those Board members
attending, in addition to Mr. Elliott were Karen Wright, Lonnie Sundal, Arnie Galli and Bryce
Landrud, Lisa Harmon was absent. Also present at the meeting were stafF members, Parks
Maintenance Manager Mike Miller, Pakrs Horticulturist Kirk Hadley, Environmental Planner
Jennifer Shih and Parks Secretary Julie Mehl.
II. Minutes
The minutes of the April meeting were approved as distributed.
III. Correspondence/Public Input
A. Mr. Miller shared the Barrier Free Playground is on schedule. Boulders have been
donated from Marblemount Quarry. Grand opening will be June 25th, Kids Day.
B. New gymnasium will begin construction in 6- 8 weeks.
IV. Old Business
A. Significant Tree Nomination - Mr. Miller sent out a letter to citizen on 2"d & R St NE.
B. Arbor Day Observance - Arbor Day actual planting will take place ]une Stn
C. Neighborhood Tree Grant (Park Ave) Mike Miller will work on when Barrier Free
Playground is completed. Will be prepared by end of June.
D. Auburn Reporter article on tree care - Mr. Landrud suggested we submit as a letter
to the editor rather than an article.

V. New Business
Ms. Shih commented there is another Tree Programs Coordination Meeting scheduled for May
5'h at 1:00 pm in Annex Conference Room #1. These meetings are held in order to streamline
and provide guidance on tree care / issues citywide.
