Board Meeting

I. Call To Order, Introductions, ApproVal of Minutes President Mike Gerber
President Gerber called the meeting to order and asked for the approval ofi the minutes.

II. Chair Report President Gerber
A. President Gerber reviewed the museum calendar especially noting:
■ March Committee meeting schedules were identifed.
• 3/23/2010 - Boeing Site Diversity Counsel - Women's History Display (Suffer for Beauty)
■ 4/14/2010 Family Day
■ 4117/2010 Hillary's workshop
■ Kindergarten tours during March and April
- B. Free Wednesday Request Update
' Board members are reminded to,send out the Free Wednesday Request packets. Free
Wednesday donations have been received from the following sponsors:

C. Museology 101, Kindergarten Tours Tara McCauley
Tara shared information regarding the Kindergarten tours. The theme of the new tour is
"Gareers though History". The first tour was challenging. The children learned new
vocabulary words, played "Siinon Says"; guessed careers from pictures, and made puppets
ofwho they would be when they have a career

The,4Culture grant will amve in March instead of February so it is not reflected in tfiis
month's report

■ Other People's Money (OPM)
New this Month: $1,500.00 awarded by the Bearclsley Family Foundation for farm
Restotafion. $93,640.00 is still needed.. Patricia is doing more work on new grants and
has submitted 3 new grant applications.
• 2010 Budget Amendmenf President Mike Gerber
This is a new policy regarding salary and benefits forthe museum's non-city employees:
This amendment will be brought to the April 2010 board meeting for approval

B. Mary Olson Farm Committee Judi Roland
• Caretaker Lease
The house is now vacant and is being appraised. ~ Well
Drilling for the well is to scheduled to begin. The process is to dig until good water is
found. It should take one week to find water. Next are the lines for sewers and water. The
outdoor electrical work will begin after the well is complete. -
• Farmhouse Interior
Interior work is continuing. Judi Roland provided pictures of the interior renovation wock to
the board members for review.
~ Capital Campaign
A grant from the King Consenration District is in development.
C. Halloween Costume Ball Committee Patricia Cosgrove
Patricia and Julie Heron met to discuss the ball. The room for the ball has been booKed. A
band has not been selected. Sponsorship was discussed: We need to think of people who
have an emotional connection to the museum such as prior board members, companies
and individuals that worked on the original building, etc. The Halloween Bap will be held
October 23, 2010
IV. Staff Report
A. Patricia Cosgrove
■ Hopfember Marvest festival 9/25 Tara McCauley, Curator of Ed.
This event will be a"soft" opening at the farm on 9/25/2010. Tara spoke with 8 local
microbrewers: They witl each donate 2 kegs of beer: There will be a beer garden and a
root beer garden for kids, food, a com maze, games and a farmers market: It will 6e a
~ great family event.
• Recruiting,Educational Liaison
The museum is looking for an Education Liaison. This position is for a docent or tour
- guide. Time needed is 1.5 hours a month for one tour.
