Background Summary: This project will replace the existing 60-inch and 30-inch.culverts under Peasley Canyon Road for the Mill Creek crossing with a 20-foot wide by 5-foot tall pre-cast box culvert. This work also includes the construction of wingwalls and headwalls for the culvert, replacement'of the 18-inch culvertpipe from the wetland just south of Mill Creek with a 24-inch pipe, stream realignmenf approximately 200 feet above and below the box, reconstruction of the road approximately 150 to the north and extending 300 feet south of the culvert, and replacement of the existing guardrail. This project has permit restrictions that mandate that all in-stream work must be completed by September 30, 2010 and a material procurement period anticipated to lasf 6-8' weeks for the concrete culvert; headwalls, and wingwalls. 'I'he bid opening will be held on June 24, 2010, Resolution 4609 will authorize the Mayor to award this contract to the lowest responsible bidder to allow the earliest start of the procurement to occur keeping this project on schedule for completion this year. WHEREAS, it is in the public interest for the parties to enter into an agreement for construction of CP0819, Peasley Canyon Rd Culvert Replacement, with all expediency to take advantage of the remaining construction season. NOV1l, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, KING COUNTY; WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES as follows: Section 1. The Mayor of the City of Auburn and the Aubum City Clerk are , hereby authorized to review bids, award; and execute an Agreement between the City of Auburn and the Lowest Responsible Bidder for Project Number CP0819, Public Works Contract Number 09-04, Peasley Canyon Road Culvert Replacemenf, which agreement shall conform with the Bid Documents, provided that the bid amount does not exceed the estimated costs as shown on the budget status sheet, attached hereto as Exhibit A. Section 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation. Section 3.
