Mr. Don Bentz
General Manager
SuperMall of the Great Northwest
1101 SuperMall Way
Auburn, W A 98001
Dear Mr. Bentz:
Since the SuperMall opened in 1995 the City has partnered with the mall in providing
quality police services through the assigmnent of two police officers at the mall. Both the
City and the SuperMall have shared the cost, with the mall paying 50 percent of the
related salaries and benefits and providing office space.
The mall enjoys a quicker incident response time and other benefits due to the on-site
staffing. The mall officers provide crime prevention training, attend management
meetings, conduct felony investigations, and follow up on most criminal activity. This
has helped make the mall a safe and comfortable place to shop.
The City would like to continue providing this service to the SuperMall. It is understood
the SuperMall will continue to support this level of service and pay $46,200 annually to
the City to offset costs. This amount will fund approximately 29 percent of the police
officers' salaries and benefits earned in 2004. The mall will also continue to provide the
on-site office space for the officers.
Please initial below to show your agreement with this letter and return one original in the
enclosed envelope. The City looks forward to continuing this service in the years to
come.
Sincerely., .
