Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 5:35 pm by Vicki Gilthvedt. Those members present in addition to Ms. Gilthvedt were Greg Dobbs, Julie Parascondola, Richard Artura, Michael Hassen, John Webley and Laura Higdon. Department staff inembers present were Parks Director Daryl Faber, Parks Recreation Manager Brian Petty and Parks Secretary Julie Mehl. II. Minutes The minutes of the April & May meeting were approved. III. Committee Member Input IV. Correspondence/ Pu bl ic Input V. Old Business A. Laura Higdon solicited funds from board members for Discovery Playground. She mentioned for a$50 donation you get your name in the program. Donations can also be done online through the Northwest Parks Foundation website. B. Director Faber noted we will be applying for "Playful City USA" status again this year. We were one of 43 cities Nationwide last year who were awarded the title. It allows us to apply for various grants. C. Director Faber noted the gymnasium construction will be starting this week and will be messy for a while. Parking will be a challenge and entry into the parking lot will be one lane with flaggers at times. They are considering fee structures now and are open to new ideas for sports / activities for the gym. D. There will be a second Open House regarding the Lea Hill planning effort on June 15 at 6:30 pm. Director Faber reported that the first meeting went extremely well and there was a lot of input from the attendees. VI. New Business A. Michael Hassen gave his annual report to the Planning & Community Development Committee in May. Director Faber commented that he did a great job. AUBURN * MORE THAN YOU 1MAGINED VII. Department Report A. Daryl Faber reported that the new resident/non-resident fee structure has not gone over well at the Senior Center. Seniors tend to participate in many more programs than other Parks customers, some go on three hikes per week. This could amount to $150.00 per year for those seniors utilizing the programs regularly. We are considering a$5.00 quarterly pass which will then give them the resident rates. B. Brian Petty reported on the various summer programs and camps available this year. The Day Camp traditionally has 30 - 50 kids participating throughout the summer. Teen Trip Thing' is a very popular camp where they hop in a van and go to various places such as: rock dimbing, Game Works, baseball games, Fort Worden, etc. 'Giris on the Edge' is a 3 day camp-out in Leavenworth'including rock climbing & some shopping. `CSI' is a murder mystery which the kids get to solve, the library and police department participate. There are dance camps, gymnastics camps, the OZ two week theater camp. June 19"' will be the 'Battle of the BowPskateboard competition. Tennis league is new this year, may have home & away games with the City of Bellevue. VIII.
