MINUTES
1. GALL TO ORDER
Chair Lynn Norman called the meeting to order at 4:00 p,m. in Conference Room 1,
located on the second floor of One East Main Street, Auburn, WA. Committee
Members present were: Chair Lynn Norman, Vice Chair Sue Singer. Member
Nancy Back:us was excused.
Staff present included: Mayor Pete Lewis, Planning & Development Director Kevin
Snyder, Principal Planner Elizabeth Chamberlain, Assistant Ciiy Engineer Ingrid Gaub, Project Engineer Rya.n Vondrak and Administration Support Clerk Tina Kriss.
Audience Members.present were: Gary M. Hahn, DDS; Edward A. Hahn, and Mel Maertz, M2 Architecture.
II. CONSENT AGENDA

Member Singer moved and Chair Norman concurred approve the consent
agenda items as presentetl.

III. DISCUSSION & INFORMATION
A. South Division Street Promenade
Planning Manager Elizabeth Chamberlain briefed the Committee on the progress
of the South Division Street Promenade Project urban design concepf.
The City along with our hired consultant KPG, Inc began work with the
preliminary urban design and other design concepts in July, 2010. Ms.
Chamberlain directed the Committee's attention to the urban design concept for
the South Division .Street Promenade.
Committee and both Ms. Chamberlain and Assistant City Engineer Ingrid Gaub
reviewed the design concepts with- Committee explaining various propo"sals and
ideas for materials: Committee expressed using a variety of teztures, a :
combination of concrete and pavers-for materials but would discourage the use
of. any stamped concrete: Committee stated they agree with the direction of the
design and would like to see some examples of how penrious concrete can be

used and what it would look like aesthetically. Staff will provide information to
the Committee on pervious concrete examples.
Committee stated they are in support of the design concep#s for the South
Division Street Promenade. They woultl like to see a blending of colors through
the materials selection for the promenade so the plaza and promenade blend.
Committee feels this can be accomplished by using a brick colored paver or
concrete.
Ms. Chamberlain and staff will collect material examples to provide Committee
and request the consultant's recommendation on materials before meeting again
to discuss maferial selection.
B. Matrix
Committee did not discuss the DRC Status Matrix at this meeting.
IV. INFORMATION.
Chair Norman confirmed the next meeting would be held on September 14,
2010.
V. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Downtown Redevelopment
Committee, Chair Norman adjourned the meeting at 4:42 p.m.
