Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 2:05 pm by Board Chair Len Elliott. Those Board members
attending in addition to Mr. Elliott were Lonnie Sundal and Arnie Galli. Also present at the
meeting were staff members Parks Maintenance Manager Mike Miller and Parks Secretary Julie
Mehl.
II. Minutes
The minutes of the May meeting were approved.
III. Correspondence/Public Input
A. Board Member Lisa Harmon has officially resigned from the board. Julie Mehl has contacted
City Hall and they will advertise for two openings on the Tree Board. Len asked Lonnie if there
were any Garden Club members who might be interested.
IV. Old Business
A. Significant Tree Nomination - Len Elliott motioned for Mike Harbin's Monkey Puzzle Tree to be
the official Significant Tree. Lonnie and Arnie accepted.
B. Neighborhood Tree Planting - Tree Board is required to complete paperwork. Mike Miller will
bring to September meeting.
C. Activity Center/Gymnasium - Mike Miller reports the completion date is scheduled for the end
of January.

A. Len Elliott will not be attending the September and October meetings.

VII. Department Report
A. White River Trail project - Buckley Nursery won bid to extend trail from Roegner Park to
Game Farm Wilderness Park. Eagle Scout project will consist of planting 80 trees and 400
shrubs/ground cover. Grant from King County will cover split rail fence.
B. Soccer field lights at Game Farm Park will be replaced, saving the city $5,000 to $6,000 per
year in energy costs.
C. Len Elliott heard that the City of Bonney Lake recently received $10,000 from the State of
Washington for tree inventory. He will research and report at the November meeting.
VIII. Adjournment
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:25 pm.
