Background Summaryr
The City Council repealing Chapter 6.08 of the Aubum city code relating to animals running at large.
In 2010 the City entered into an agreement with King County for the confinued provision of animal
services, which agreement requires the City to ensure that its animal services ordinances do not conflict
with King County's regulations. Upon review, staff determined that Auburn City Code Chapter 6.08
duplicates and conflicts with provisions of King County Chapter 11.04, which the Gity has adopted.by
reference. Ordinance No. 6330 repeals Aubum City Code Chapter 6.08 in its entirety.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
; CIIY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, REPEALING
CHAPTER 6.08 OF THE AUBURN CITY CODE
RELATING TO ANIMALS RUNNING AT LARGE
WHEREAS, Chapter 6.08 of the Aubum City Code, which regulates
animals running at large, was adopted in 1957, and has not been specifically
amended since; and
1NHEREAS, in 2002 the City Council adopted comprehensive animal
services regulations, as well "as additional regulations in 2004, 2006, and 2009,
which regulations substantially adopt King County's animal service regulations;
and
WHEREAS, in 2010 the City entered into an agreement with King County for the continued provision of animal services, which agreement requires the City
to.ensure that its animal services ordinances do not. conflict with King County's
regulations; and
, WHEREAS, upon review of Chapter 6.08, staff has determined that it
duplicates and conflicts with provisions of King County Chapter 11.04, which the
- City has adopted by reference; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends repeal of Chapter 6`.08 in order to eliminate
possible enforcement problems;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN as follows:
Section 1. Reaeal of Citv Code Chapter. That Chapter 6.08 of the
Auburn City Code be and the same he'reby is repealed in its entirety.

Section 2. Imalementation. The Mayor is hereby authorized to
implement such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the
directions of this legislation;
Section 3. Severabilitv. The provisions of this ordinance are
declared to be separate and severable. The invalidity of any clause, sentence,
paragraph, subdivision, section or portion of this ordinance, or the invalidity. of the
application thereof to any person or circumstance shall not affect` the validity of
the, remainder of this ordinance, or the validity of its application to other persons
or circumstances.
Section 4. Effective date. This Ordinance shall take effect and be
in force five days from and after its passage, approval and publication as
provided by law.
