Background Summary: The 2010 Arterial 8 Collector Pavement Preservation project will rehabilitate and rebuild deficient • pavement on 1.5 miles of arterial and collecfor streets throughout the City. This rehabilitation will be accomplished by patching damaged pavement on 1 mile of City streets and rebuilding the travel lanes on 0.5 miles of I St NE (see attached map). This project will also improve the pedestrian crossings at the intersection of 8t'' St NE and Pike St NE and the intersection of 116"' Ave SE and SE 304th St as part of the City's Traffic Calming Program. These crossing improvements will consist of replacing wheelchair ramps and refreshing or installing new crosswalk markings. These crossing improvements will be funded by the 328 (Capital Improvement) Fund. The broken concrete panels on 1~ St NE between Auburn Way N and Auburn Ave will also be replaced as part of this year's arterial and collector street pavement preservation program. However, this work will be done under Project CP1002 - 2010 Local Street Pavement to take advantage of similar concrete work already being done. This work will still be funded by the 105 (ArteriaUCollector Street Preservation) Fund. As discussed at the Public Work Committee Meeting on July 6t', 2010, Change Order No. 1 will remove Terrace Drive NW and Lea H'ill Rd from the project. Additionally, Change Order No. 1 includes the installation of geotextile fabric below the pavement on the ` portions of I Street NE that are being reconstructed (see attached map). The geotextile fabric is needed to help stabilize poor soils that have been encountered under the street during construction. A contingency of $511 remains in the (105 ArteriaUCollector Preservation) fund.
