Re: South Division.Street Promenade
Downtown Gatewav Feature
Staff is bringing forward a proposal from KPG, Inc: for a Downtown Gateway Feature (see
attached rendering) to be located at 3nd Street SW and South Division Street This gateway
element will announoe that people are entering Downtown Aubum and create an anchor at the
south end of the Promenade project. The north end of the project is anchored by the City Hall
Plaza and signalized intersection. This gateway,feature is one that could be used elsewhere in
, Downtown; for example at West Main Street, East Main Street, or where Aubum Avenue and
Aubum Way. split.
KPG, Inc. will be ;in attendance at Tuesday's Committee meeting to assist in the presentation and
answer any questions from the Committee members.
Site Fumiture Elements
The South Division Street Promenade and City Hall Plaza site fumifure elements were provided
to the Committee at the October 12, 2010 meeting. The Committee provided direction to staff as
follows:
• Bike radc.shall be the one selected for the City Hall Plaza project (ring bike rack).
• Trash receptaGe shall be the one proposed for the South Division Street Promenade
project.
• Benches shall be consistent between the two projects. KPG, Inc. has recommended a
new bench thaf is complimerrtary to the Ciiy HaII Plaza bench. The bench will be black;
is metal, and coordinates with the luminaries and theme of the two projects; Crisp and
Contemporary.
• Also shown in the images for referenoe are the City's standard tree grate in the Chinook
pattem and the City's pedestrian/street light standard. At Tuesday's Committee meeting, staff would like direction on the Downtown Gateway Feature
and final concurrence on the Site Fumiture elemerrts.
