CALL TO ORDER The August 25, 2010 meeting was called to order at 11:20 a.m. at 2615 - 24t' Street SE, Auburn, WA.. Committee Members present were: Chair Suzanne Limric, Bette Van Gasken, JoAnne Walters, Chuck Booth, Daryl Thompson, Marian Thomas, Tony Ladner, Barbara Derda and Lela Brugger Committee Members not aresent: Viiginia Lloyd-Baron, and Michael Harbin Staff aresent were: Community Senrices Manager Michael Hursh and Project Assistant Kirsten Reynolds II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES s The Committee reviewed the July 19, 2010 minutes. o Member Booth motioned to accept the July 19, 2010 minutes; Member Ladner seconded the motion. ■ The July 19, 2010 minutes were approved. III. AGEIVDA • Review of Proposed_2011 / 2012_Human Services Aqencv Fundinq _ Community Services Manager Michael Hursh reviewed several new agencies and the , details of their programs. After extensive discussion and consideration the Committee agreed to recommend some level of monetary support to all the 2009 / 2010 funded agencies. The Committee recommend new agencies to receive funding, which meant not all previously funded agencies would receive the same amount of funding; agencies/programs discussed have support cut back included, but are not limited to, ACAPIChildcare - originally had:60-80 kids, now have 16 kids enrolled, Sound Mental Health/Behayioral Program is being recommended to keep their same funding, Domestic . Violence Program and The AubuM Boys & Girls Club. The Committee agreed to recommend funding support to several new agencies which applied for 2011 / 2012. New agencies/programs recommended for funding were: - Neighborhood House / The Landing Young Adult Shelter - Pediatric Interim Care Center Inc. / Interim Care of Drug-Exposed Infants - Center for Children & Youth Justice / Safe Havens Visitation Center - Seattle-King County Department of Public Health / South King County Mobile Medical 'Program - - Catholic Community Services / Katherine's House and Rita's House - New Connections / New Beginnings - South King County St. Vincent de Paul Stores / Society of St. Vincent de Paul - South King Council of Human Services / Capacity Building Project (Nathan Phillips) - South Sound Dream Center o Member Ladner motioned to approve the above recommended agency changes for 2011 / 2012 Human Services funding; Member Booth seconded the motion. ■ All Committee Members were in favor of approving the list of recommended agencies for City Council's consideration. ^i IV. ADDITIONAL TOPICS • There was brief discussions amongst the Committee regarding the following topics: ■ Description of Catholic Community Services: CHORE Program, offering assistance to people needing work done around their homes that aren'f able to do themselves. . ■ Description of the HOME / ARISE Program, serving homeless men and women at rotating shelters; there has not been a commitment from aubum churches to join this effort yet. ■ Current Human Services Chair position / election discussion. All members present were ok with having Susan Limric continue to serve as the Committee Chair. ■ The Committee asked to be engaging in more agency monitoring activities. - Staff will assist Human Services Committee Members do monitoring on . behalf of the City. ■ The Committee gave feedback on this years funding cycle process. - There needs to be more time for deliberation; start interviews for new agencies in May. More unofficial scheduled working sessions for Committee. V. NEXT MEETING The next meeting will be the annual joint Planning & Community Development Committee meeting on September 27, 2010. Following meeting will be held on October 25, 2010 at 3 p.m. VI. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjoumed at 1:30 p.m. APPROVED THE25day of 2010.
