(AUBURiV FIRE HYDRANT/ACCESS ORDINANCE) PERTAINING TO HYDRANTS SERVING PORTIONS OF BUILDIN6S MORE THAN 150 FEET FROM PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY, PERTAINING TO COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL BUILDING HYDRANTS, PERTAINING TO HYDRANTS SERVING APARTMENT BUILDINGS. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. There is herewith added to Chapter 13.16 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Auburn (Auburn Fire Hydrant/Access Ordinance) the following new sections: A. . Pertai ni:ng .to °hvdrants servi ng -por.ti ons of bui 1 di ngs :mare _than 150 feet from public right-of-way: Spacing between hydrants serving portions of buildings more than 150 feet from the public right-of-way may be modified in accordance with the provisions below provided that the buildings which are required by the Uniform Building Code to be sprinkled shall not be allowed hydrant spacing increases; except, when that portion of a building is required to be sprinkled and that portion is minor and incidental to the primary occupancy which does not otherwise require sprinklers, hydrant spacing may be increased from 150 feet to 300 feet if the total building is sprinkled. B. Pertaining to hydrants serving commercial and industrial buildings: Hydrants required to serve any commercial or industrial building or portion thereof which is more than 150 feet from a public right-of-way shall be in- creased to 300 feet provided that the building is fully sprinkled with an approved sprinkler system as specified in National Fire Protection Association Pamphlet No. 13. C. Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and publication, as provided by law.
