Background Summary:
The City has received a petition signed by members of Auburn's American Legion Post 78 and Auxiliary
Post 78, the Inter-Tribal Warriors Society, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1741, and other citizens
asking that the city name the Veterans Memorial Building after William C "Bill" Warren.
William C Warren served in the United States Army during World War II where he received the Bronze
Star for Valor, was active in the Auburn Veterans Community, was the inspirational designer of the
Auburn Veterans Memorial and served as the chairman of the committee that raised the funds and
oversaw construction of the memorial.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, RENAMING A
PUBLIC FACILITY WITHIN THE CORPORATE
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF AUBURN
WHEREAS, Resolution 2555 established the City's procedure for naming
public`parks, property, and-facilities', and
WHEREAS, in accordance with that Resolution, the City considers such
things as the names of geographical areas or references; natural or geological
features; historical or cultural significance; or individuals (or entities) who have
made substantial donations to the public park, property, or facilities or who have
been otherwise instrumental in the acquisition or development of the public park,
property, or facilities; and
WHEREAS,` the City has received a petition signed by members of
Auburn's American Legion Post 78 and Auxiliary Post 78; , the Inter-Tribal
Warriors- Society, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post '1741, and other citizens
asking that the City; name the Veterans Memorial Building in Veterans Memorial
Park after William C. "Bill" Warren; and
WHEREAS ;_the-petition states that Mr. Warren served in the United States
Army during World.'War 11, where he received the-Bronze Star for Valor, was
active in the Auburn Veterans Community, was the inspirational designer of the
Auburn- Veterans Memorial and,_ served as the chairman of the committee that
raised the,.funds and oversaw construction of the memorial.
NOW,- THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
HEREBY RESOLVES as follows:

Section 1. The City Council of. the City of Auburn finds that Mr.
Warren's outstanding service to.this country and .to the veterans of the City of
Auburn meets the criteria in Resolution 2555
Section 2. The Veterans Memorial Building in Veterans Memorial Park
in Auburn, Washington, shall be renamed the "William C.-Warren Building," and a
suitable memorial shall be_placed 'at the building.
Section 3. The Mayor is authorized to implement such administrative
procedures as may be necessaryto carry out the directives of this legislation.
Section 4. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in full force
upon passage `and signatures hereon.
