CALL TO ORDER Chair Lynn Norman called the meeting to order at 5:01 p.m. in Conference Room 2, located on the second floor of One East Main Street, Aubum, WA. Committee Members present were: Chair Lynn Norman, Vce Chair Sue Singer, and Member Nancy Backus. Staff present included:, Planning & Development Director Kevin Snyder, Planning Manager Elizabeth Chamberlain, , Assistant City Engineer Ingrid Gaub, Project Engineer Ryan Vondrak and Admin Support Clerk Tina Kriss. Audience Members present were: Aubum Arts Commission member Greg Watson, Elizabeth Gibson and Phuong Nguyen of KPG, Inc. II. CONSENT AGENDA A. Meeting Minutes - November 9, 2010 Member Backus moved and Member Singer seconded to approve the consent agenda as presented.- MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 3-0 ' 111. DISCUSSION . A. South Division Street Promenade Planning Manager Elizabeth Chamberlain introduced representatives of KPG, Inc., Elizabeth Gibson, Landscape Architect, and Phuong Nguyen, Urban Design. Ms. Chamberlain stated staff discussed the urban design streetscape with Committee previously and the consultant team has worked out the pavement fypes and is here to bring those before Commitfee. Ms. Gibson provided samples forthe Committee showing the proposed color selections . and material choices which will be used in the South Division Street Promenade Project. Ms. Gibson explained how the materials will be placed to weave the promenade and plaza together combining texfure, color, and materials. She also described the layout changes made from the previous drawings the Committee reviewed. Committee asked several questions about the color and layout to gain a better understanding of how both the promenade and plaza wiU specifically merge together. Committee expressed concem the layout and color schemes would appear to be too busy and Ms. Nguyen explained the materials used are consistent in texture which will provide a uniform backdrop; each section of the street will have uniformity. Committee asked how the scored concrefe sidewalks off South Division will connecf with the sidewalks already constructed to the City's Downtown Sidewalk Standard. Ms. Page 1 Downtown Redeveloament Committee Minutes November 30, 2010. ~ • Chamberlain stated the pattem from the Promenade will transition to the 2x2 square pattems. Committee asked staff if tiiey think the rest of the redevelopment area should be 30 inch squares rather than 24 inch squares. Committee and staff discussed the sizes and random color patterns of the grid for the.City Hall Plaza project as well. Committee asked staff to provide a drawing for the random grid pattem layout for the City Hall Plaza project. Committee stated they like the color, design and layout of the concrete and pavers for the South Division Street Promenade and are pleased with the symmetry. B. DRC Status Matrix There were no changes or additions for the Matrix. IV. INFORMATION The meeting scheduled for December 28t' will be cancelled. The next meeting will be held December 14, 2010 af 4:00 p.m. V.
