MINUTES
I. CALL TO ORDER Chair Rich Wagner called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. in the
Conference Room . 3 located on the second filoor of Auburn City Hall
located at 25 West Main Street in Aubum.
Members in attendance included Chair Rich Wagner, Vice Chair Sue
Singer, and Member Nancy Backus. Also in attendance was City Clerk
. Danielle Daskam.
II. PLAIVNING FOR COUNCIL RETREAT
Committee members discussed preparations for the Council Retreat
scheduled to.be field September 9 and 10, 2010.
The Committee began by reviewing the CounciPs Vision 2016 map and
identifying the 77 items as either: complete, in-process, future, or
abandoned. Chair Wagner agreed to transcribe the categories and issue
, a memo to Councilmembers asking that they rate each of the "in-process"
and "future" items on a scale of 0 to 3 and suggest new items they
strongly feel should . be on the vision map. Chair Wagner will compile the
results of the ratings and proposed that sfaff bring updates to the retreat
for Council discussion. Staff members from Planning, Multimedia and
Information Services will be asked to update the 2016 vision map with .
only the "in-process" and "future" items.
Committee members also-discussed the need to categorize the vision
items into the following groups for discussion purposes: infrastructure,
economic development; human services, safety, planning; and other.
Committee members also discussed the format of the finro-day retreat. 'All
members agreed that a facilitator from outside (not City staf) is needed.
Chair Wagner agreed to pursue a facilitator. Once a facilitator is selected,
the Committee will agenda format with the facilitator.

Committee members agreed that the first half day of the retreat should be
devoted to a high-level visioning discussion for the City's Vision 2030.
Discussion should be more philosophical rather than in terms of specific
projects.
Staff members should attend all of the finro-day retreat. Staff is not
expected to participate directly in the high-level visioning discussion on
Thursday morning.
The Committee recommends that the following staff members attend the
retreat: Department Directors, Community Secvices Manager Michael
Hursh, Public Affairs Manager Dana Hinman; Executive Assistant Tamie
Bothell, Cultural Diversify Liaison Alex Davis, and the City Clerk.
181. COUNCIL COMMBTTEE ASSIGNMENTS
Committee members reviewed a proposal to change the membership of
the Public Works Committee as follows:
Rich Wagner, Chair
Sue;SingeFBill Peloza, Vice Chair
13i11 PelezaVirginia Haugen, Member
Motion by Vice Chair Singer, second by Member Backus to replace Sue
Singer on the Public Works Committee with Vicginia Haugen, designate
Bill Peloza as Vice Chair-of the Public Works Committee, and designate
Virginia Haugen as M,ember.
Chair Wagner agreed to contact Councilmember Haugen to confirm her
willingness to accept the appointment to the Public Works Committee.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 3-0.
The City Clerk was instructed to prepare the necessary resolution for
Council consideration at their meeting on July 19, 2010.
IV. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting adjoumed at 5:18 p.m.
