Committee members discussed the process for the prioritization/dot
exercise. Committee members suggested that the "dot" exercise include
all goals and not just those identified above for discussion. Committee
members agreed that each Councilmember should be given the
opportunity to add one goal to the list.
Chair Wagner agreed to update the table of goals and transmit it to the
Mayor with a request for a five minute staff update on each at the retreat.
Committee members reviewed the five strategies and recommended the
following definitions for each:
One Auburn: A strong sense of community, allowing all people to
appreciate each other through celebrations and by working together to
solve problems cooperatively.
Sustainability: Economic viability coupled with environmental
stewardship, while planning and acting for our future.
Quality: Striving for the best in people, projects and services.
Page 5
Council Operations Committee Auqust 11, 2010
Partnerships: Continually seeking and maintaining productive
relationships with out internal and external partners.
Livability: Providing a safe and desirable community.
Chair Wagner agreed to draft the retreat agenda for Committee review
and discussion with the Mayor.
Mr. Prothman indicated that he would forward his consulting services
contract to the City for execution.
The next meeting of the Council Operations Committee is scheduled for
September 3rd at 4:00 p.m.
