IIAINUTES
I. CALL TO ORDER.
Chair Rich Wagner called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m, in the Council
Conference Room located on the first floor of Auburn City Hall located at
25 West Main Street in Aubum.
Members in attendance included Chair Rich Wagner, Vice Chair Sue
Singer, and Member Nancy Backus. Also in attendance was Executive
Assistant Tamie Bothell, Greg Prothman of Prothman, and City Clerk
Danielle Daskam.
II. PLANNING FOR COUNCIL RETREAT
Council Operations Committee members met for the purpose of finalizing
preparations for the: Council retreat to be held on October 28 and 29,
2010.
Committee members reviewed the draft agenda for the retreat, the draft
memo to Councilmembers regarding retreat agenda documents and
process, strategies and goals supporting the City's vision, and the desired
outcome for the retreat.
. Mr. Prothman encouraged Committee members (rather than the
facilitator) to describe the visioning process to the remaining
Councilmembers, Chair Wagner will present #he visioning process and
present examples of the vision, strategies and goals.
Committee members briefly discussed whether to include the City's
mission statement as part of the retreat discussion.

' Committee members will present information on the pre-retreaf planning
process. Each Committee rnember.will discuss the process used for
developing strategies.
Committee members discussed logistics and materials and equipment
needed for the retreat. Tamie~will arrange for any needed supplies and
equipment at the meeting site and will coordinate refreshments and
meals.
Commitfee members discussed the process for prioriiization of goals
using dots and "super" dots. Staff will be prepared to giVe a five minute
update on selected goals.
Chair Wagner stated that one hour has been reserved at the end of the
day for an overview of outcome-based budgeting.
III. ADJOURNMENT _
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
