Advisory Board Meeting

I. . Call.#o Order _
The meeting was called to order by Trudy Ginther at 4:10 pm. Advisory Board Members present:
Ronnie Roberts, Maggie Greenslit and Trudy Ginther. City Staff/Council present: Market Manager
Joanne Macnab, Councilman Bill Peloza, Parks Secretary Julie Mehl. Also present: Kathleen Keator,
Executive Director of the Aubum Downtown Association.
II. Minutes
Minutes of January 2011 meeting can not be approved as there is no quorum.
III. Market Manager Report - Joanne Macnab A. Attended WSFMA conference in Leavenworth January 28 - 30 with Trudy Ginther.
B. "Mad About ,Gardening" in" Port Townsend offers a program where we can sell organic seeds for
$2.50 -$3.00 each with a cost of $1.00 each. "Mad About Gardening" will then donate 10% of
sales back to the WSFMA. "
C. Currently have Facebook page and Twitter account at twitter@AubumFarmerMkt.
D. Applied for ROW use permit, event permit and temporary food service permit.
E. We own finro domain names: aubumfarmersmarket.com and org, have tracked 353 hits on our
websites as of March 2.
F. Elecfrical stations at Aubum Station Plaza are being repaired by Sound Transit and should be
complete by the end of April..
G. Roses have been pruned at the Aubum Sta#ion Plaza. .
H. AIFM Ad has been placed in "Everything Auburn 2011n. . -
1. Rules & Regulations to be posted soon; city attomey is reviewing.
IV. Correspondence/Public Input
A. Maggie will bring planting guides to event at YMCA in April to give out with seeds we sell.
B. Bill Peloza requesfs to give a Council Representative report af future meetings. He handed out a
copy of a letter from Rachel Srrith from Sound Transit regarding setting up a meeting with Aubum staff, Sound Transit and Metro about bus schedule on Sundays during the market season:
C. Maggie had a requesf from a master gardener that would like to have a presence at Kids Day at the
market. Joanne will let Maggie know when Kids Day will be at the next volunteer meeting.
D. Ronnie mentioned that folks have asked him "why Sunday" for our market. Kathleen added she .
has been asked that often as well. Bill Peloza responded they took a survey during the steering
committee and Saturday was the preferred day buf there were too many other markets on ,.`Saturdays and parking would have been an issue on Saturdays. Kathleen responded that it would

~ be just as successful on Saturdays as folks tend to go to church on .Sunday and spend time witFi
their families. Ronnie added our market will,.be successful any.day'we hold it, but noted that since
the survey results showed Saturday then;perhaps we could discuss #haf option for the 2012 season.
Kathleen added we could have a"question of the day" in the Auburn Reporter to see what citizens
think. Joanne added we could advertise our theme dates af the same time we ask the " guestion of
the day". Ronnie added customers have asked him "What else is there to do?° in Aubam,
regarding market input.
V. Old Business
A. Linda Morris appointment should go through council March 7th. All other advisory board members
expire December 2011.
B. Dates and times have been changed on A-frames and banners. Will be posted mid-May. Need to
discuss methods of securing A frames, Kathleen will call Joanne next week to let her know how
ADA seeured their A frames. Bill asked if we had a map showing locations of A-frames. Joanne
will updafe. _
C. Discussion regarding. size and message of new banner to be ordered, suggestions included
removing logo, and including web address:
VI. New'Business A. Maggie acquired pricing for hand wash sfations; the least expensive for single was $585, double
$964, quad $1,071. Bill suggested we ask Waste Management or Scarff Ford to donate a station.
B. Sponsorship package, Joanne emailed the City of Auburn sponsorship package information to
volunteers and board members. Would like to define as soon as possible as she has a potential
sponsor and wants to give. him some options: Kathleen just put together a sponsorship package for
the ADA, she can discuss with Joanne next week. Trudy recommended a tiered package system. .
