Parks and Recreation Board Meeting
Minutes
Tuesday, October 4, 2010
5:30 p.m.
Auburn Senior Activity Center, Rotary Room
I. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 pm by Michael Hassen. Those members present in addition to
Mr. Hassen were Richard Artura, Vicki Gilthvedt, John Webley and Greg Dobbs. Department staff
members present were Parks Director Daryl Faber and Parks Secretary Julie Mehl.
II. Minutes
The minutes of the September meeting were approved.

V. Old Business
If the board is interested in researching feasibility for an off leash area Daryl can share the research he
has done. The main items to focus on should be a 4' fence, parking, and speaking with neighbors. Greg
Dobbs added that if there were to be a test park it would be very difficult to rescind.
The gymnasium project has been stalled as a result of pipes having to be re-ordered.
VI. New Business
Daryl Faber has received some calls regarding concessions at Les Gove Park. Citizens have complained
about the Ice Cream truck music. Director Faber asked the board if vendors from 11 am to 5 pm would
be acceptable, Richard Artura agreed.
VII. Department Report
Hops & Crops at Mary Olson Farm was a success with 1005 attendees and 7 breweries. The chickens
were extremely popular with the children.
The parking lot at the Parks Administration building is scheduled to be complete in mid to late October.
New chairs have been installed at The Auburn Avenue Theater. Chocolate Confessions was just shy of
selling out, as was The Coats.
Teen Late Night has had over 400 attendees this year vs. 250 last year.

The Reaching Out Fair is to be held October 7th. S'more than you Imagined will be held Octob'er 9"' at
Game Farm Wildemess Park.
Soccer season has begun and has over 700 children participating.
The White River Trail asphalt has been completed, the project will be complete by the lith of October.
Game Farm Park soccer field lights are to be replaced, they are 30 years old. This is the result of an
energy grant from Federal funds.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjoumed at 6:00 p.m. .
