Re: Proposed Pedestrian Kiosk Locations - Walking Tour
Background
At the February 8, 2011 Downtown Redevelopment Committee, staff introduced an initial
pedestrian kiosk design. During the discussion, the Committee began talking about potential
locations outside of the South Division Street Promenade project. A walking tour of potential
pedestrian kiosk locations was suggested.
Discussion
Attached to this memo are proposed locations, within the Urban Center, for a pedestrian kiosk.
As mentioned previously, funding for the pedestrian kiosks is a grant through a federal
Transportation Enhancement Program Grant. Included in the grant application were two specific
locations, the Interurban Trail and the Auburn Sounder Station. These are the only two required
locations pursuant to the grant award with the other locations within Downtown Auburn.
At the March 1, 2011 Committee meeting, staff reviewed the proposed kiosk locations and
showed the model kiosk. The Committee requested modifications to the model; making the width
six inches smaller. The Committee and staff will conduct a walking tour reviewing the proposed
kiosk locations in the field at the May 24, 2011 meeting; weather dependent.
