Minutes
Tuesday, May 3, 2011
5:30 p.m.
Auburn Senior Activity Center, Rotary Room
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:37 pm by Michael Hassen. Those members present in addition to
Mr. Hassen were Vicki Gilthvedt, John Webley and Richard Arturra. Department staff members present
were Parks Director Daryl Faber and Parks Secretary Julie Mehl.
II. Minutes
The minutes of the April meeting were motioned for approval by Vicki Gilthvedt, seconded by John
Webley.

V. Old Business
A. Dykstra Bridge naming request: Daryl Faber sent the Harkey family resolution 2555 outlining the
guidelines for naming. The building of the Dykstra foot bridge was not a requirement at the time of
construction as earlier reported. The Harkey family is now in the process of proving civic contribution to
the community.
VI. New Business
A. Viewing of Parks Department video.
VII. Department Report
A. White River Trail mural: A 321' long mural (10' high) is in process. Riverside High School students
will be painting with spray paint.
B. Martin property transfer - transfer almost complete, park will contain ball field (Little League through
college fast pitch), half court basketball, synthetic turf soccer field, small skate plaza, 400' lawn,
stage/picnic shelter and trail loop. The city received 1.5 million from Green River Community College to
swap land parcels, 9.5 acres to 5.5 acres.
C. Clean Sweep to be held Saturday, May 8:00 am focusing on downtown projects.
