HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-03-1988sp� COUNCIL GOAL-SETTZNG WORKSHOP OCTOBER 3, 1988 �_____.___.� 19 In attendance were Councilmembers Brothers, Burns, Kurle, Larson, Walters, and Whittall; and Mayor Roegner. � The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. Councilmembers discussed the proposed 1989 City of Auburn Goals. Councilmembers agreed on the goals, subject to budget considerations,and added two more goals to: (1) increase sidewalks in residential areas using LID's and, (2) making improvements to the building permit process. A list of the goals is attached. The meeting was adjourned at approximately 7 p.m. Attachment GSW10-3 , ' PROPOSED 1989 CITY OF AUBURN GOALS I. PLAN FOR AUBURN'S FUTURE A. Prepare downtown master plan. B. Prepare wetlands mitigation program. C. Prepare urban design plan, including ability to review master site proposals. D. Assist Chamber of Commerce with implementation of the Business Improvement Association (BIA). E. Finalize study of the Les Gove Community Complex and proposed bond issue to include a community center, senior center expansion and library expansion. F. Develop City Centennial plan. G. Publish City Centennial book. II. IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THE CITIZENS OF AUBURN A. Complete next phase of Cameron Park. B. Complete Isaac Evans Park. C. Complete Phase I of Wilderness Park. D. Obtain state financing for second phase of wilderness park. E. Participate in state centennial. F. Develop recycling plan and continue with control plan. G. Complete SARA emergency response plan. H. Respond to the increased usage of library litter services. III. RESPOND TO THE NEEDS OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN THE AUBURN COMMUNITY A. Increase residential patrol emphasis. B. Implement DARE program. C. Develop plan to respond to neighborhood issues. D. Develop social service plan. E. Respond to the growing needs of the homeless in the Auburn community. F. Increase emphasis on drug abatements and prosecutions for child abuse and related issues. IV. CONTINUE TO PROVIDE BASIC GOVERNMENTAL SERVICES AND RESPOND TO CITY INFRASTRUCTURE NEEDS A. Complete third phase of street bond program. B. Obtain FAA grants to improve safety at Auburn Municipal Airport. C. Update City's comprehensive water plan. D. Update City's comprehensive sewer plan. E. Update City's comprehensive traffic and synchroniza- tion plan. F. Continue physical improvements at Auburn Golf Course. G. Improve data management systems within City government. H. Maintain high audit standards. I. Continue improvements at Auburn Cemetery J. Improve time elements and training in the Building Divison relative to permit processing. K. Emphasize the use of LIDS for sidewalks. , '
